Have to say im with eksdee on this one while i respect his ability to do this i really dont like this type of music because although he did write this himself i think the emphasis with him seems to be completly on speed...ok he writes the song but from what ive heard they're not very good just very fast.....i reckon at a certain point a person can begin to play too fast and at this pint they all just start to sound the same...for a few seconds sounds cool but for a whole song? nah....

oh somebody post "flight of bumblebee" and be done with all this technical guitar shite :p

my bezzie m8 at the time ( both of us aged 17) could play flight of the bumblebee to perfection - but he couldnt write anything original to save his life - hes now the guitarist in a maiden covers band !

10000s of artists are technically talented and can play amazingly well, very few have the creative talent to make anything of it.

Me? If so I think you misunderstood, I was replying to Zede asking for 'Flight of the Bumblebee' by saying I prefer 'Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee'.

nuno is one of those with the a better creative side, the riffs on porno are just sweet.

Yeah Nuno is my idol, his melody and harmony work is just unbelievable. He doesn't have the raw speed of a Malmsteen/Petrucci/Vai but his playing always feels more passionate. He does have great technical abilty though and as you said he is creatively very strong.

For technicality I can't fault Vai, he has slowed down alot in the last 5 years but his phrasing in legendary. Back when his hands were faster he was certainly one of the king of shreds as well.

Just for fun, I would love to see anyone manage this on Guitar Hero...

This song is incredibly hard to nail 100% in GH, even harder on a real guitar. My brother has been trying on his Ibanez for the last 3 years and still completely fucks things up when the speed kicks in. :D

why do you and huntingtons think i'm talking about having vocals on the track? neither of you are grasping my point at all, what i am saying is anyone could do what this guy does if they played guitar for long periods every day over 10 years or whatever. to me, true talent is a lot more natural - interesting ideas, creativity. this isn't creative, it's robotic.

edit: the other thing that really gripes me about this sort of thing is the total fixation of the 'artist' with their own technial ability. this kind of music - if you wish to call it that - to me is basically someone standing on a stage screaming LOOK AT ME, I'M SO FUCKING GOOD AT GUITAR WEOEOEOEOEOE. couldn't possibly be less interresting.

When you understand this, then get back to me:

I listened to Buckethead's 'Soothsayer' in full last night and I have to say he has gone up massively in my estimation. That song has haunted me for the last 24 hours.
