BTO ADSL help possibly?

I got adsl on the 23rd of this month, and installation was fine with the idiot bt engineers giving me some warez sites to goto to download some divx's etc which I found rather amusing.

Anyhow the first day I got it all was good, expect the instant pl but it wasn't that bad, and through the past few days the pl has got worse and worse. I've tried various different HG's but with little performance/pl difference, anyway to my point......

As I have had the service for only a few days is it possible to cancel it (at a cost if I must) or have I got to pay for the following 12 months!??!?!

I saw the following url http://www.challenge-uk.com/columns/z/ (thx slic3r) and this has provoked me to cancel, speed's been good 60k/sec, 35k/sec p2p with 25-40ms pings but I've already started thinking ahead. And after reading some of the many posts here I'm worried about what I've got myself into!?

thanks for any help u can give me
mitche^

Its common practice since companies have to make the money back.

Yes, but when the connection is pants, and is totally shitty compared to what you thought you we're paying for, isn't it a little silly to have to pay for 12 months?

p.s. your fucking shit.

No one takes any notice since kids and morons are allowed to have fits.

ISDN is simply a on/off service, this is the part that you have a 12 month contract. The connection is effected more by what ISP you choose....in his case cheap and shit BTO which you can pay for month by month and change should you be un happy.

My BTO ADSL is damned brilliant - zero downtime, great download speed (usually over 50k often 60k) and superb pings (usually 45ms, sometimes 30-35ms) and I have had it for 3 months.

A mate on Zen's ADSL was down for a day the other week

No - I don't work for them ;)

TBH most are shit since they're overloaded and this comes down to paying a monthly fee for connection instead of per minute.
