My uncle lost his thumb in an accident when he was a carpenter in his early 20's, he's now in his late 50's (i think), having lived most of his life missing a thumb :(

He gets on really well though, he can do near enough everything anyone else can! :D He was actually the mayor of the town they're currently filming that stephen fry "kingdom" series in (swaffham). Strange but true! :D

i saw this thing where they take your big toe and graft it on where your thumb should be if you lose the thumb, was pretty gross and if it happened to me i'd have a really hairy thumb :(

i found some stuff to do one handed when i had my broken hand and this was by far my fave:

i mean its the first thing i wanted to do when i lost the use of one hand...go out and restrain some ill behaved mice!

one tip for you is pre grated cheese, i couldnt make sandwiches or anything because i couldnt (if youll pardon the experssion) cut the cheese (oh er) but pre grated solved all my woes!

Well just before christmas I broke my right hand in a fight and I must say that it takes some time to adjust to using one hand.
Though I am used to using my left hand for writing on paper and my right hand for everything else so got to me rather quickly. And now after I got the plaster thing off I can use both hands equally good almost.

Since it isnt broken anyway what will they do with it?

ive just been given one of those self-adhesive bandages that i can take on and off at will, just need to make sure thumb is supported during day and it doesnt take any weight they reckon two weeks until i have full use of it again

Cool, then it is no problem:)

I had my hole hand/arm in plaster. From the fingertips almost to the elbow. Fucking sucked.
