Watched the prog with the GF and neither of us were disgusted by it, I couldn't see the problem with cow hearts??? and it proved my point when at the end no one really cared and eat his food anyway and quite enjoyed it.

My rule of thumb is if I like the taste and it won't kill me straight away I'll eat it be it Veg or Meat.

Turned out to be a pretty redundant program, trying to be like the channel 4 chefs programs and failing.

What disgusts me about that programme is the minuscule budget on which it was produced. It looks worse than the food.

dont eat offel. i just dont like the taste or smell or texture of any animals vital organs. does literally turn my stomach i do tend to look at % of meat contained in the product if im buying something like a kiev or look for 100% chicken breast etc.

that said im a position where i am able to be picky about the meat i eat, i can afford good cuts so thats what i go with, if i couldnt afford them then id prob eat all the shit bits (but the door will always remain firmly shut on corned beef. just yuck) wafer thin ham anyone? doesnt actually taste that bad but id take a proper cut any day.

the program was shit and just tried to do something which a show did years ago which already changed things. McDonalds chicken nuggets for example they soon changed the recipe when mechanically reclaimed meat become common knowledge.

maybe a more compelling program would be to show the conditions and the way animals are slaughtered in abatoirs, that might be a program that would evoke an emotional response.

constant use of the phrase barely legal was fucking annoying.

I used to eat supermarket wafer thin ham until my better half bought proper thick ham. Never gona back.

Its a shame the guy presenting the show wasn't pushed into one of those sausage making machines in Germany and then fed to the pig on the lead in London. Truly global.

I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with your policy on ham, but I'm sure we can still have soup together some time.

It actually is. Same with vaccinations etc.

Control and propaganda are such lovely tools :p

The only tinfoil ahttery is on the people who think the government don't do tinhat worthy stuff.

I'm not saying it's a freakin huge conspiracy, but it's not all "just so purty" :D

He actually made some good points, especially about the prices supermarkets pay for milk, below production costs.

Never understood that - if you cant sell for more than your costs then give up n get a job - why do farmers bleat on about selling below costs like someones forcing em to year after year?

The reason the price is so low is because some other farmer agrees to supply at that price.

Probably because they may have other areas of farming dependent on the short term revenue from milk, whereas the rearing of cattle is a long-term investment.

It will mess up their cashflow if they reject the payment and because they know they will be replaced by another farmer straight away.

If that farmer also supplies meat to the company in question, then they may subsitute the loss in milk prices for a gain in meat profit.

I didn't see the program however so I can only speculate.

Watched the first episode but got frustrated by his high and mighty, frankly quite poor effort at biased journalism, twisting facts in order to make his point. He reminded me of a geeky, superiority complexed version of Devvo...

The only impact a program like this is going to have is to either make people spend more on food (I wonder why the BBC funded this one...) or to be put off of certain types of food. Seeing the second episode was on dairy, I've retracted from the series as there is very little good that can come from watching it. What so next time I drink a cup of tea I wonder exactly what's in the milk? A bit of toast and I should feel guilty?

We're part of a soon to be 7 billion strong population; to have a truly fresh, unpreserved ethical dietry life style for all simply isn't feasible with current horticultural production thus we have to make do. If that means making the most out of an animal carcass, eating less then 100% quality dairy products, consuming water still slightly impure (sp?) from a less then 100% sanitising process, having genetically modified crops as part of our diet or whatever the next thing that is going to be part of the program then so be it. If every country turned around and said it's unethical to include anything but pure meats as part of all foods, more food would be wasted, costs of production would sky rocket and no matter how much the issue would be argued, it would mean starvation for more people... banning this kind of thing will inevitably only help upper/middle class people.

It's not going to particularly harm you so why the fuss?
