BBC NEWS | Magazine | Rise of the all-you-can-eat restaurant
if people want to go eat what ever they want, why is it anyones concern except their own? it just adds to the growing list of things being banned because apparently we cant think for our selves.
i was at a course last week relating to public health and nutrition, and some of the things they came out with were insane.
when i stated that people can surely decide them selves to say for example, "i dont want any chocolate sauce", i was advised that people were not prepared to make that choice. in that case, it is probably cos they want the fucking sauce then.
But some believe the all-you-can-eat concept promotes poor dietary habits. And, that contrary to the suggestion that more choice encourages experimentation, it actually stifles it.
"The irony is that if you give people complete and unadulterated choice they eat a narrower range of food simply because they can - you can eat burgers every day if you like" says Professor Martin Caraher, professor of food and health policy at City University London.
He is concerned about all-you-can-eat restaurants. "It encourages greed. There is a sense of getting value for your money. And we've moved away from the notion of stopping when we feel full. People think I'll just have another bit, I'm not paying for it."

we should remove salt shakers from tables, so people have to ask for the salt. that might make them eat less of it
rather than puddings and ice creams coming with sauces, they should be reduced to a basic pudding and people should be charged more for toppings
