Bought CE Pre Order @ HMV, but...

Ok I went and bought the CE box with the three codes from HMV tonight.

Inside it says something like 'congratulations, you have pre ordered the CE of Warhammer'.


Quuestion, how in the hell does any1 know that Ive Pre Ordered the CE edition? The codes are just for Open beta, Early Access and some free items.

Was the guy at HMV supposed to take some details off me?

When you add those codes to your account you have to add the CE retail code in order to continue playing on release, a normal code wont work apparently.

Thats my point, what CE retail code? Right now as it stands, who is sending e a CE Box at release? Nobody knows I have this little 'pre order box'?

He should have I assume. Otherwise nothing stopping them selling to people who didn't pre order on the night/day of release.I'd phone them up and have a word with them just incase.

well in theory, if you can only get the pre order box, if you also ordered the CE box.

People who ordered the normal gam, are not allowed to have the pre order


But there are stores selling the pre order boxes seperatly from CE box

According to my local HMV (Barnsley). The Pre Order DVD box is refundable against the CE Box when it's released, which will be before general release. You only need proof of purchase (receipt) to exchange the two, and pay the difference.

They didn't take names or addresses either.

As for the CE Retail Key, i think everybody has that problem, as it isn't included with the Pre Order.

This whole issue of HMV not taking details to secure a CE on release day has plagued many people. Different HMV's handle it differently. The worry is that they will just plonk all the CE's on the retail shelf come release day and it will be first come first served. I would make us much noise as you can in their earholes to get a CE reserved.

And yes, if you use the headstart key you only have a few days after full release to add a CE key to that account in order to continue using that account otherwise the account becomes suspended. People who buy the HMV packs to get a headstart and only intend to buy the normal retail pack will get a shock......

Oh the joy of it. Why do we have to have these 'fleece the customer' special pre orders with a special item (etc etc) that cause so much hassle.

Can already picture release day....no CE edition available from HMV for me etc.

Speak for your self. I quite enjoy collecting my SE's! Gameplay had no problems getting my WoW CE's out on time (few issues with TBC pet but got a free very exclusive item though). Blame the retailer, not Mythic.

Go back in, take your receipt, take your pre-order, get the manager. Tell him to take down your details.

i got mine today form HMV liverpool and they said if you come back with the receipt then you can pay the difference and get the collectors edition so you will need a receipt or they wont sell you it. I dont knwo how they are gonna get me early access though. Does collectors edition come out before the game?

Early access is gained from one of the codes in the pre-order pack. One code is for open beta access, one for the headstart program and the last for the bonus in game stuff. The places to enter these on the war-europe.com website are currently being developed and GOA will let us know when they are available for us to use.

Couldn't happen that way as the game isn't gold yet so it's not possible to give pre-orders a CE box straight away.

It's also not possible to put the codes in the final CE box as the benefits are for pre-ordering and not just for buying a CE and it's possible that not all CEs will be pre-ordered.

Pre-ordering guarantees you a copy of the limited CE. It also gets you into open beta. It also gives you a headstart on live servers. It also gets you some in game bonuses.

The CE is (IMHO) an amazing boxset version of the game with loads of cool stuff, see www.war-europe.com for the details in all their glory.

Getting the CE does not get you the headstart or the open beta access. The pre-order program for the CE gives you that. All the stuff in the CE is listed on the CE page as well as the benefits of the pre-order program. The two things are separate though, you can have a CE without pre-ordering.

Dunno about you, but the last sentance dropped a bombshell for me. I was under the presumption(can't remember if I read it anywhere officially or not) that to get a CE you were required to get a Pre-Order, that there were going to be no CE's spare that anyone can pick up without Pre-Ordering(I remember reading 55,000 for EU).

Interesting to say the least, everyone who bought from HMV may now be a little less stressed about not being able to get there CE copy as they didn't get there details down.

My assumption is that if 55,000 pre-order packs were sold then there should be no CE's to buy anywhere. Regarding the statement though HMV had the CE for sale on their website pretty quick but only as the CE and not the pre-order thing (as ofc play.com are the UK online pre-order peeps).

Yes, I should clarify; it's technically possible to get a CE without pre-ordering. There are as many pre-order packs as there are CEs so if all the pre-orders are sold and they all get redeemed for CEs then there won't be any CEs left for regular sales. If some of those CEs don't get picked up however - people change their minds about it - then there will be CEs that you can buy without pre-ordering.

Yup, that sort of thing happens a lot. I would recommend you ring up or go in a few days before release and make absolutely-fucking-certain that they are holding one back for you.

Yeah play where sold out by the time i went looking for one so HMV in metrocentre had some in got mine from there, if i dont get my proper copy someone will die.

I bought my pre-order pack from HMW Plymouth this weekend. I asked if they needed my details and after a bit of conferring with colleagues a knowledgable chap came over and took name, address and phone number and tapped it into the computer.

Those who're on their list are then eligable to go in on release day and get their CE edition. You need your receipt from the pre-order to get the original £9.99 discounted from the full cost.

I think thats a pretty reasonable concern.

Does your pre-order reciept guarantee you a CE copy? If not, your essentially paying £10 for nothing...
