Boots of blinding speed

By far the most usful item i have accidently come across while playing Morrowind is the boots of blinding speed. Adds 200 to your speed (about 5x normal speed) but you loose your sight. You can still navigate using the minimap easily enough and if you assign a hotkey to it and another to your normal shoes, you can toggle them on and off.

I was on my way from Caldera to Gnaar Mok (not using paths, i went over the mountains) and i met a man. He asked me to escort him to Gnaar Mok so i did. To find him, search the area west of Caldera, on the east side of the mountains separating Caldera from Gnaar Mok. He is the one wearing the boots with the shiney magical effect.

Very usful item indeeeeed. The treck from Maar Gan to Urshiaku Camp used to take 15/20 mins of just walking (no gamer with a half decent life and not much time to spare should be put through that) Now it takes just a couple of mins.

Not sure if anyone reads this forum anymore but nm.

Heh, hello. They're neat, yep, but the blindness can get annoying, though if you have magic resistance it reduces the blindness effect and not the speed. Unfortunately I hadn't realised when I made my character that Khajiit couldn't wear boots (and full helms, beh.) And then I didn't find out about the boots of blinding speed until I was way too far into the game to be able to start over. Boop.
But anyway, I reckon the best item I've found accidentally was the insanely powerful Amulet of Shadows, which gives 80% chameleon for 60 seconds when used. Chameleon being better than invisibility since doing stuff doesn't break it. I don't remember where I found it exactly but it was somewhere around Gnisis, I think. Maybe between Gnisis and Ald Velothi, though not entirely sure.

look out for the vampire ring, which take an age to recharge, but when cast enemies who hit you are only damaging themselves while you drain their life force

I've been playing Morrowind pretty regularly since I got it in October, the boots of blinding speed are one of the most useful items i've found. With regards to the blindness thing, if you can get your magic resistance up to 100% then put them on you can resist the blindness completely (the magic resistance doesn't have to last, only when you put them on). When I first got them I used spells to get my resistance up, now my character has 100% magic resistance (you can resist bad item effects with 100% but most good bad guys can still kick yer arse with spells i've found) permenantly through one item I 'acquired' and a couple I made for the job , leaving me to use the boots at will.
Watch out though, I found out pretty quickly that the boots have a really low stamina (or whatever the health is for items) 50/50 i think, where most good items are 1000+, so keep an armourer's hammer handy.
