So I have this OS I downloaded. but it's an ISO file. I.E OS.iso. I've burned it to CD but it won't boot from the disc. How do I set it up so it boots from the disc, so I can format and then install the OS?

Thanks.

What OS? From where? There's a very good chance that it's already a bootable image.

If you use ImgBurn and go to write mode, after loading the ISO you'll see what "File Sys" is being used. Should say ISO9660 (Bootable) for a bootable image. You can also open it in MagicISO and you'll see on the toolbar if it's bootable or not.

I would check that it's actually not bootable before you start wondering how to patch a boot image onto it.

You may have to change the order the systems boots in the bios settings.

ie The PC probably boots from HD first instead of looking at the CD-Rom drive first

Nero is always rubbish

User error.

Although I hardly use it any more, as I only burn music CD's, and Winamp is waaaaay better at that, especially at handling different formats.

Nero is currently a big steaming pile of bloatware - aka shite.

The best freeware for burning data and images is imgburn.

As for using winamp to burn CDAs, I guess it's down to personal preference.

Also, you image mounting folks might want to give MagicDisc (MagicIso) a try, as DaemonTools has gone the weirdo path for some time now.

Hardly a fanboy for going onto a previously popular site with a name made up of two small cars and getting a key :p Will probably stump up for it though, as it is 3r33+

Anyway isn't foobar just Winamp for people with shit computers?

foobar is very useful and very powerful.

However, it isn't very user friendly. It's winamp for uber nerds.
