still have more likes than dislikes though generally... (just)

but thats just where your wrong. the pvp in daoc isnt flawed, its fine. the thing that is flawed is the tiny scale of the game. any MMORPG must be huge, with FAR more items and FAR more classes than daoc can offer. going back to EQ again, its a far far more succesful game overall with far far far far more players (most of whome have been playing for like 4 years), the reason being that its so much bigger, theres more to do, and thats without pvp!! daoc has no potential, the reason being ITS TOO DULL! unless they totally remade the game, making it 50x as big with hundreds of new zones and monsters of different lvls, with hundreds of bran new drops each with its own new graphic, then maybe it'd be verging on ok.

daoc IS a bad rpg. face it.

tell me this: can ANYONE here seriously imagine themselves playing daoc in 3 years time, and still having fun? honestly?? and thats the secret to a good online rpg, lastability. u want a quick hack and slash style game, play an FPS. daoc is far to easy, far to small and FAR too dull to be a decent rpg by anyones standards.

1. why does every mmorpg have to be huge? Why not have a mmorpg-lite so to speak that people who actually have a life and don't have as much time to play can get everything out of?

2. Daoc has far less quests/set pieces etc. than other moorpgs perhaps. But, it is more driven by player interaction, this game is what the players make of it. Rvr is the main selling point, and in rvr all three sides are controlled by real people. So Daoc is based on interaction with other people a lot. Perhaps this is where you have a problem with it? :p

3. you say this game needs big new zones and lots of new drops, but not everyone likes exploring or farming mobs for this next must-have item. Most of the people who play this game enjoy it for the rvr, a selling point pretty much unique to daoc atm. You however don't seem to enjoy it but please stop trying to force your opinion on others. It merely makes you seem like the school bully. Completely immature.
Pls grow up and let others be entitled to their own opinions. kthxbye.

Is everyone taking a break? or WHAT... if not let's get some good rvr going again. If u don't want to be zerged, don't camp gates so the enemy has to built up forces to break it. Walk around in teams of between 10 - 18 ppl or so.

Hey mate..

I've decided to quit rvr cos of the zerg reason, and there are no fun in emain anymore. Everything is explored, and i hope we can move to midfrontier. Not only odins gate, but the HOLE frontier! So it takes a while to find eachother :)

Anyway, im off untill lvl 900+ fletch.

The only thing EQ has to offer over DaoC is the size. But EQ has grown since it started, and so will DaoC. One reason why I wouldn't mind going to the PvP server is that all realms will be open to any player, effectively increasing the playable mapsize threefold.

Repetative... nothing much to gain... kill some1... get killed... zerg... get zerged... get rp... blaa blaa blaa. Wish they would patch a bit faster... would serve mids right to taste some instaaoe :p

Personally i only play now when i have nothing better to do... waiting for new games.

And yes... this is my first mmorpg... so what?

How long is EQ here now? and how long is Daoc been here? Quite some difference... And they both got a lot of players attention in a short time..

you hit the nail on the head there. "nothing to gain". exactly. rps mean nothing, just means how sad u are and how often u group to zerg in rvr. nothing more. there is NO skill in daoc rvr as i've said many times in the past, so unlike UO its not respectable to have a high RR. UO is increadibly skillful, and good pvpers are respected and feared for the right reasons.

Karam you make some good points but i dont know why you start saying "DAOC is crap" and try and ruin the fun for people who still like the game.
SI will have new zones and some nice sounding classes, it will build on this game and be much bigger than the regular DAOC.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

OMG! That was funny!

Firstly, you seem to be under the impression that the majority of RvR is zerg based. You couldn’t be further from the truth. There are plenty of guilds around who try to gather 1-2 fg of people and go off to do their own thing, whether its roaming around a frontier or taking and defending a keep.

Successful RvR is about meeting the enemy on your own terms - draw them into a battleground of your choosing, somewhere that allows you to take advantage of your groups composition. You have to know your enemies strengths and weaknesses, and also your own groups strengths and weaknesses, and use this knowledge against them.

Hunting with people you know and trust also helps a great deal. In the groups I hunt with regularly, I know that the other people in the group will back me up, and will do their best to prevail against all odds. Too many people in the Zerg are looking out for their own skin, and stand back to see which way the battle is going when they should be taking the fight to the enemy. Unfortunately a lot of people see death as spoiling their fun, but quite a few of the most intense and enjoyable fights I’ve been involved in have ended in death - and it didn’t make them any less fun! I’d rather have fun and end up dead than stand around in a wall fight, which isn’t much fun and usually has the same result!

Saying theres no skill in DaoC RvR just shows that you’ve never really bothered to do much yourself, and have little understanding of the intricate tactics and counter tactics that are used by the ‘skilled’ players that are around today.

When I first started getting into RvR I too knew only the zerg and, as you obviously did, became frustrated with the whole thing. However, I was fortunate to meet people who are ‘skilled’ in RvR - my new colleagues at First Cohort, and my good friends the Black Falcons

These two groups showed me how RvR should be, and every one of them has earned their realm rank. It’s because of them that I enjoy RvR as much as I now do (Thanks guys!).

Please do not inflict your misinformed opinions, based on your negative experience, on those of us who still participate in and enjoy RvR. Just because you were unable to get to grips with how RvR works does not give you the right to call anyone else unskilled - you clearly don’t know what you are talking about.

i read up to here and stopped. because your obviously stupid. RVR stands for REALM V REALM, meaning you ARENT supposed to have to organise fights, the fights are MEANT to happen at random, and be fun. however thats where mythic buggered up a bit, because its not even remotly fun.

if you want to organise fights at designated times and at designated areas, go play counter strike with a clan. the whole point of daoc was meant to be that armies of hundreds a side (when i say hundreds a side i mean 600 mids and 15 albs). small fights arent what daoc is SUPPOSED to be about, you can get small fights in UO, or even eq ffs. daoc is BUILT for big massive huge wars, but they arent fun, because of the zerg, classes are too unbalanced and they just dont fit together correctly in rvr. needs more thought put into it.

oh and whoever said if i dont like it i should fuck off, well no. i have quit the game coz its terrible, but no way in hell will i stop pissing u noobs off on here :D

no one has answered my question yet, which is, can anyone see themselves playing daoc in 3 years time and still being fully satisfied with it?

lol rofl so noob :(

ok, in eq u gain ITEMS, MILLIONS of REALLY cool looking items. and to get those items u have to LVL! it works really well :p

sometimes i see people in eq who look so hard i just stand there, and start crying in rl coz i dont look that 1337 (in game). and have you PLAYED uo!?!?!?!?!? if your a good pvper in uo, your basically god lol. there are SOME people (xlordx for example) who are so fucking 1337 they've had INTERVIEWS from the UO homepage etc. when people see him they flock round him and take screenshots, because he's so fucking 1337. u will never get that in daoc lol, coz its not impressive to get to rr10 or whatever, because it takes NO skill what so ever, just pure /played.

Short attention span?

Ah... resorting to name calling.... the cornerstone of any well thought out response.

RVR stands for REALM V REALM,

Your point being?

Wrong.... Yes, it's a war, but not all wars are massive all out battles. There are numerous small skirmishes, and little incidental battles which may or may not have an impact on the overall outcome of the war.

no one has answered my question yet, which is, can anyone see themselves playing daoc in 3 years time and still being fully satisfied with it?

Yes, I can see myself still playing in 3 years time, as long as the game continues to develop and stays true to itself..... and as long as all the whingers and whiners keep on leaving.....

You're the epitome of the kind of people you flame on these boards. What you can achieve in DaoC is pointless, yet items in EQ are cool, and having uber macro's in UO makes you cry in idolation? And you accuse others of having no worthy real life. You're living in self-denial in a fantasy world. One with bad graphics at that, and equally pointless as the next game . Do yourself a favor and sell your computer, it would work wonders for your currently not too admirable personality.

So Karam admits he's a drop whore and an exp whore and likes coooooooooool items that make people look so hard they make him want to cry irl when he sees them ??? Now it becomes clear why he despises DaoC so much.

Rofl - you truly are one sad bastard.

Problem is, Karam that until you realise that this game is fundamentally designed to encourage things like grouping and making friends to get the best out of it, you're basically fukked m8. The first consideration is not sitting in your own castle wanking over some 1337 weapon you just spent 3 days questing for, but shared experience and enjoyment. Get that fundamental issue into your tiny shallow mind before you slag it off.

As to getting interviewed and featuring on a homepage? Whoopiefuckindo with cream and a cherry on top.

Your statement does clarify one issue though. Why so many ex-UO players I have noticed are so obsessed with drops that it leads to disharmony and bitter arguments. Thankfully DF has done away with that selfish fuckwit attitude to a large extent.

Like Nol says, fuck off somewhere else if you arent satisfied with it. You are deluding yourself if you think your hanging around this forum slating the game is pissing anyone off though. It's great entertainment to a lot of us and a godsend to any budding anthropologist who is doing a thesis on Neanderthal man.

No it isn't ( : Jyhad/Vampire is sooooo much better than Magic ( ; You should try it sometime. It involves better planning your deck, and anyone doing some smart thinking can beat a rare-card deck with a standard deck. In short, tactics win the game instead of who spends the most money on rare cards. The game tactics also totally change every time someone is ousted. And the background setting of the World of Darkness is also a lot more appealing than the weak Magic background imho. The Vampire- The masquerade tabletop roleplaying game is also certainly worth trying :D

lol..would that that were the case. Thank God for tax write-offs on expenses and a creative accountant is all I can say ;)

If you are socially disfunctional and don't befriend guys you play with for maybe four to six hours a night in game (and judging by that screenie of your "friends list" I recall from way back, Karam, I guess that puts you in this category) but treat everyone around you with indiference, why play an online game at all? And particularly this one which requires team work to be truly rewarding?
