I graduated yesterday, but to put the icing on the cake I found out I've had an offer to do a PhD at Manchester uni aswell! Eternal student HO!

im really tempted to stay in education all my life too. atleast when you get high enough people start paying you for it. plus i want lots of letter infront and after my name dammit!

Apparently the pay isn't great but I've seen plenty of lecturers who earn a comfortable wage with the bonus of doing something they enjoy. People whine too much about not earning as much as people in the city (but they are crazy). I'm not much of a letter whore personally but each to their own :p join as many societies as you can to collect the letters!

The good thing about a PhD is that your stipend, or maintance grant, is usually tax free. I get the equivalent of about £14k/yr doing mine, not bad for the amount of time I'm actually in uni heh :)

this is perfect for me so no need, plus its a CASE studentship with GSK so they give an extra 3K a year stipend, will be equivalent to 20K a year normal wage :england:

They have a big ass university that is pumping money into life sciences and the perfect PhD for my background and interests :)
