Venerable, I'm not going to reply to your post, because I have apparently been trying to defend the BD for far too long to really be arsed anymore. I predict this discussion to start out as it has already; with the usual arguments we've all heard before, and eventually ending in a stupid argument (which it is on its way to) ad absurdum.

You (or we) clearly misunderstood something concerning the cold debuff.

I'll start grabbing logs from Emain runs right away, and until I get some stuff, here's one for everyone's amusement:

I don't like the arguments - but I didn't appreciate the stupid tag for a different point of view. I'm happy to debate of course, but I draw the line at derogatory remarks unless someone fires an opening shot.

I didn't set out to flame BDs for flaming sake. I just feel that a class where near 100% of ppl spec the same way needs addressing. Well done to you and Wolvenic for being different. Personally I want to see the devs make BA and darkness more attractive foremost rather than nerfing suppression; just in the interests of giving you BDs some casters to kill it's only fair to make your opponents have some sort of chance though. My wiz came up against Mill and a healer whilst I was in a grp of 6. Healer mezzed us all and Mill picked us off. I managed to kill a healer pet, but none of the remaining tanks could kill Mill. It was frightening.

Let's put this to bed. I thought it was a body debuff as you debuffed me in RvR before. I thought the herald and catacombs were wrong based purely on RvR experience.

I never thought it was possible for an inf to 2 shot a 50 BD. Guess my inf is a bit gimped: RR3, 15 DPS rapier :/, no MP SC set, no alchemy - if I PA a BD I die - so I try the pets - perhaps I need to work on my kit first as I have never PAed a 50 for 747

Suprised 1028 damage dropped you - I've got an avalonian wiz with 1000 hp with a 99% SC set - I expected a troll BD to have much more hp.

Well, I did forget my necklace with +19 con points at that point ...

Currently I have 1121hp unbuffed, which means, with PA's like Rambo's, that you don't need that much luck to kill a BD. Top that with an infil's ability to PA twice thanks to the Vanish RA. BD's can be soloed ...

Yes, by a RR9 infil buffed to the tits.

BTW, Eats - Do BDs get to wear plate armour or something? I remember shooting you at mmg HW earlier for 269 damage (or something outrageously low like that) and thinking WTF?! I can shoot plate wearers for 300ish (34% absorb) but 269 damage on a cloth wearer!

Ah, I've been soloed by other infils too!

Well ... no, I only had my armor, my AF shield, BT and the absorb shield on me when you shot me in HW. I wasn't buffed either. My melee resists are 26% crush, 29% slash, 28% thrust, so ...

I was kind of surprised to only get hit by that ~280 dmg after you broke BT. Usually I get hit terribly hard by critshot straight thereafter. :]

Heh, I did have the crit shot lined up but you must've moved at the right moment because it turned into a normal shot. Not that it would have mattered that much anyway.

The LD is only useful in full rvr (ie. fg v fg) when combined with the healer pets, and like wise with the healer pets.

a BD can not, i repeat can not solo fgs of albs/hibs, for 3 reasons:

1) the mana usage would be huge

2) even if a boney has 1000+ hits, unless the full grp does 100 dmg per hit, he won't survive long

3) the lack of CC

the debuff on the dark line is good for knocking off the insane amount of body resist on some albs/hibs, so u can actually do something.

i have yet to see any logs of these phantom BDs soloing grps, i admit BDs are a very very good solo class, but only as a solo class, as the baseline + insta + the body debuff costs a lot of mana, and the pets are pretty crap, except maybe the healer pet and the solider pet (for pve)

BAHHHHH until u played a bd in rvr dont try tell me how uber they r,if u lucky and in a fight u dont get picked off u might be lucky to do some damage.Lifetaps only do around 250 max in lev 50 rvr if u got some nice debuffs etc or manage to get a crit or the person u attacking got crap resists if u have higher dark and some Ras like mom wp u might do more.Bd are a caster class and die just as easy if delt with right.If u even got 26 dark 48 supp u still only gonna be able to down 2-3 ppl at maximum until u out of power unless the clever bd uses pow potions.Lifetap is really the only spell that "keeps" bd alive in a fight if u albs hibs so scared of it redo your body resists ffs.Solo yes they are pretty good but im afraid no caster should ever loose 1v1 if they know there chars well enough.I die with my bd as much as any other classes.Healers are bugged and other pets are a joke.Lifetap and healer pets are in same spec line for a purpose to give bd extra chance in rvr where as other classes have aoe snare /pbt etc bd normally have to take damage to deal damage u have to face your opponent to do damage which puts u in line for attack again.
They have no speed no real group love apart from abs spell.
I do have a question for u why does chanter get speed, pets that nuke/snare, pbaoe, debuffs in same spec line and can 9sec stun at lev 50 ? Now they r overpowered dont tell me no different but they still dont get nerfed do they ?

Im a mid and i can say Suppresion BD's are very hugely overpowered dunno about other specs tbh. I expect they will get nerfed and tbh i couldnt care.

Btw, the state of mid atm, you cant go to any dungeon nowadays without seeing loads of BD's and Savages with shammys up there arse :/

Your only stepping yourselves up for a nerf imo

lol, YEY!! hmm didnt think of that but ill add it to the list:

5. Instant ae stun.. even the hibs say we need it in rvr...
6. 1sec recast pbae (with powerdrain) badly needed to counter the other realms abilites (may need testing).


btw venerable , Im specced supp/bone army, not every bd specs one way , and im very happy, altho the majority will go supp as main line.

The supp route is the main one yes, but I know a full dark bd, ba main spec bd also and dark/supp 38/38 ish spec bds raising.

Bd's surely are the best caster class that came in SI tho

looking at things this way:-
Necromancer, spends ages to cast 1 pet
when pet dies has 10hp left (or something)
when pet dies cant cast anything whatsoever

Animists get 3-4 Turrets?
not sure on cast time
things have short life, and have to stay in 1 place, so unless u daft enough to follow the lil luri to his/her weed patch, then u should be laughin
and even if u do get in amongst the weeds, the times my alts been there, they dont seem to do much dmg

BD's get 3-4pets
inc Healers, wich they can cast in less time then a Necro pet
once bone comander dies, BD is still on full health (assuming he was when BC died)
and my biggest gripe, yep his pets are dead, but he still has that constant bane of em all insta lifetap (now u may say but it only does 280 to a tank) maby true, dosent help me tho

but thats just how i see it, BD's are tough, but as allways thats because they are played by people who know how to play that char
And yes i ph33r BD's ive been pwnd by BD's and I hate comeing up against the buggers, u take my insta weap debuff for your insta lifetap? go on i know u want too
