Not sure if it's a RPG or if it should be an action/fps but it's basically "Morrowind with guns".

Really really cool (that said I've only been playing it for a weekend) - very open ended. Bloke goes to a banana republic in the hunt for his daughter - the hunt costs cash, to get cash you need to work for the different factions (who all want to kill each other).

One warning though: it is rather buggy... patch 1.1 seems to solve some of the major ones (and another patch is on its way with some feature improvements) but personally I'm still having a blast.

Anyone else playing this?

Hopefully I'll be getting this game soon, been reading reviews about it all weekend, I'm a little worried that my computer might struggle with it though.

atm I have a:

Cpu: P4 2.8Ghz
Ram: 512mb DDR
Gfx: Radeon 9600/256mb
Sound: Audigy2
O/S: WindowsXP

It runs Half Life 2 well enough, but I'm thinking about upgrading to 1GB of RAM though.

Judging from the reviews the game sounds real good, if a little buggy.

you'll be fine with that - only got a athlon 1500+ or something stupid on my machine, with a geforce 5700xt, 768 meg of ram (had half a gig when I bought boiling point and it was fine with that).

You'll have to turn all the graphics options down mind you.

It's a good game :) one tip (hopefully not a spoiler) is that the vehicle piloting guides aren't all given to you - some of them are lying around on the floor (I missed the tank one :() but I think they're all associated with the main quest (still can't find the navy boat book).

Bought another 512mb of ram and boiling point today (thought I'd be working but some how managed to get the day off :D)

So far I've not been able to get into the game, I think I need to tone down the settings as I'm getting about a second delay on my actions, that and the fact that the enemy AI is kinda strange means it will take me a while to get into the game, I'll definatley try to get into it again tomorow or somthing though :) seems like it could be a nice game

have you installed the patch? It helps quite a bit.

If you ignore the ridiculously stupid driving AI (they tend to get off the road and drive into buildings rather worryingly frequently) it's actually not too bad once you get into it.

Yea, definately takes a while to get into the game, real good now that I've gotten into it though.

Had to play around with the settings to get it to run nicely, looks pretty good too. I had put the patch on originally, but the gfx settings where too high in some places and too low in others, kept getting pap graphics with it running slow.

I've done quite a bit in it so far, explored half the map, finished a few sets of missions, not managed to learn to fly yet :( been looking everywhere for those manuals but not found any.

I like the weapons though, was trecking through the jungle at night (IRL night and ingame night), about a kilometer between my car and the objectives with this bloody jaguar stalking me, crapped myself when he jumped me :(

Definately worth a play though, real good fun, one of the best games I've played in a long while, not even been on DAoC all week because of it :)

I had the same problem, one way of making it a little better I found was to turn the vehicle mouse sensitivity down to about 1/4, then use mouse to steer, much easier that way.

I agree that it is annoying though.

Now i know physics is a fairly new interest in the video games world and to expect them in a game in this type of game is 'asking a lot' but they could have just made them fun? Some cartoony physics in the same vein as GTA would have been so nice! A game relying so heavily on transport due to the insanely large and involving world needs to get that at least 10% right. Morrowind has better driving bits :eek7: and there is no cars in that!

I thought it was ok, had a few fun bits in the cars, it can be ok but I agree its hard to get along with it.

Well it was bad enough to put me off what looked like a potentially very cool game. I dread to think how the planes and choppers behave :)

choppers are ok, plane's are pretty horrid to control but I only ever had to fly two of them.
