Bodge no 1.6 ??

Well I installed the latest patch and...it still crashes randomly as per usual

But now it has a new 'feature!' The game clock/timer now only works when I stand still. (I have a single Voodoo2 card) Makes sence you say, how often do you look at your watch when running along shooting people??

There are also mutterings that the crosshairs corrupt on Voodoo3's. Perhaps Dynamix are worried by the lack of complaints from users of 3DFX adaptors...

I'll be giving it one more try then probably going back to bodge 1.5, at least I could tell when to snatch that objective

It works fine for me, and I notice a distinct improvement in net play too.

May I ask;

Are you using the US, British or Warez version ?

I have it installed on the US version, and it works brilliantly. I will install it on my UK version when I get home. Could be a region error.

Can't say I'm overly impressed with it... Seemed to be getting a higher frame rate last night but this evening its been prone to locking up and many many complete crashes... Whether this is an improvement on the slightly less frequent freezes of earlier bodges I'm not yet sure...

For the information of all reading I'm using a 12mb Voodoo 2 and am patching an imported US version (no warez in these pants!)...

Anyway, I guess us Voodoo people are stuffed - am seriously considering going back to version 1.0...

Can't say I noticed the clock not moving - but then I was too busy encouraging my graphics card to be better...

/me wonders if he can find a shop selling TNT2 cards without labels saying 'This box is empty please take it to the counter' or perhaps a rich auntie...

The patch does nothing for 3dfx ppl but make them use glide only - so no surprises there

there is a new patch on the way, maybe even within hours to address the issues we have all brought up

In otherwords, its bugged, and the QA testers don't wear watches

Out of interest Brit, what are the differences between the US / Euro versions. (I presume that our UK version of Tribes is a standard European pack)

TBH, I don't think there are any differences code wise between the UK and US versions of the game. The periperhy of the product is different - box, manual etc.

I only asked because I thought it may be relevant - say, if everyone experiencing difficulties used the UK version, then perhaps this would highlight a potential coding problem.

Just doing my Tech Support bit

no probs here (US version). Afaik the patch does feck all for those of us on 3dfx cards, so theres really no point in getting it if you are. I just like seeing a new number down at the bottom of the intro screen now and then
