ok, wanted to try out the bluetooth function of my laptop, but I get an error message each time I want to 'enable bluetooth detection' in the bluetooth configuration screen of windows XP (SP2). It isn't an error that makes the configuration screen crash or anything, it's more like a 'cannot apply new settings error' without any error code or further explanation.
Under the "Detection" part of the bluetooth config screen is the "connections" part, the "bluetooth devices may connect to this pc, blablabla" option is enabled, and I cannot disable it without getting the same error.

Without being able to enable detection I cannot connect any bluetooth devices to my laptop. Does anyone know a cause and/or solution to this?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 1692.

Here is a screenshot of the error, but there isn't even an error message on it...

bluetoothprob.JPG

This is the translation of the message to english.

"An error has occured while saving the settings. The following settings have not been saved.

Detection Settings
Connection Settings"

The square right above the yellow exclamation triangle, is the

Enable Detection setting, which I'm trying to enable.
After I click on on the error message, the setting gets disabled again.

As for the laptop model, what more info do you need?

ok problem solved, the laptop HAS not bluetooth lol...

Why there is a button for bluetooth function on the front, a whole bluetooth settings menu in configuration screen and the fact that there is a bluetooth logo on the website of the model is a big question to me though....

because they use the same case for about 10 other models :p the joys of mass production! And they prolly just throw in a generic installation CD with the same software for all the models.

check the model number at the back of the laptop just to make sure that you shouldn't have blue tooth.
