Help Blue screen

work pc has blue screened on me. Error code 0xc0000034, file: \BCD

Says 'boot configuration date file is missing some required information'

Wow, this thread went off topic by the 2nd post, that has to be some kind of record

I didn't get any discs with the laptop and have been told that I should have created a boot recovery disc when I bought it ??

I have ben told by Acer that they can 'sell' me a recovery disc for £50 but it will wipe the whole thing and I don't want to lose the data

Any thoughts?

Buy a hdd dock and remove the drive from the laptop mount the disk on another computer and copy the data off maybe.

Then get a disk of windows and format and install your windows again

So I would need to get the HDD out of the lappy?

I cab see lots of springs and screws going everywhere when I take the back off

What laptop you have? Usually there is a small screwed down hatch that you can get to the hdd without taking it apart.

Ha Ha...pfft, I don't know, its at the office (no, not the back of the van) I will have a look tomorrow. I got it in August and it had just been discontinued, maybe an Aspire

Got the HDD out of the laptop and borrowed a dock of a mate, just transferring everything over now onto a stick.
