Apparently this is a first gen machine. The next gen machines (due out in a year or so) will have discs that don't require a caddy/cartridge, and are fingerprint resistant.

50GB on a disc. Wow. Makes sense, especially as Dixons are to stop selling VHS video recorders.

Isn't HD DVD technology coming out around the same time too? Not sure which is better mind, couldn't find much information when I done a quick google.
