I can't believe I have managed to catch the flu in the middle of August, it just isn't bloody fair Started as a heavy cold and now it has developed into an ear and chest problem as well, the cold shakes are nightmare too.

Anyone got any good tips for speeding up the healing process?

When you wake up every morning take painkillers. Then a vitamin C tablet. Then 2 oranges. Thats what i do when i have to flu and it makes it alot easier, and clears it up faster

Antibiotics is to help you fight bacterial infections. it does nothing at all to the flu, which is a viral infection so that's nonsense.

I have spent 19 hours out of the last 22 in bed, I am shivering uncontrollably, have a streaming nose, sore throat and an ear infection. Does that sound like a cold to you? I am at the computer because it is 5ft away from my bed, it doesn't take much energy to sit down for 5 mins every couple of hours and check email/forums. Not taking anti-biotics because I have had 2 very nasty chest infections since January and a phone call to my GP recommended that I try to get it out of my system naturally rather than go through my 4th dose of anti-biotics in 8 months.
