I've just installed and hacked around with WordPress to control a blog on my website. I decided to let it only control the blog, and nothing else, this is because I'd like to keep control of my site. The result can be seen at: http://www.pete-b.co.uk/blog/. I would appreciate some feedback on the look of it, as a) it's late and b) I'm not very creative. Also, can people read the colours OK, i've tweaked them a bit (it's based on the wordpress classic skin).
One final thing, I removed the "Powered by WordPress" footer, as I felt it didn't fit properly, can someone clued up on wordpress (i.e. Shovel/SheepCow) tell me whether this is OK (my student loan doesn't cover court cases).

//edit: Oh, and where does the comments-popup.php file get used, I haven't seen that yet

if it's GPL then yes it's fine to remove it. But phpbb (for instance) reserves the right to withhold any support to people who do not display the message. Assuming it is GPL there is no legal obligation.

I wrote quite a long reply to this in the early hours of this morning only for the bloody database to crash on submitting it. Will have another go a little later on. Don't worry I wasn't slagging it off or anything.

I stuck WP on my hosting just the other day myself, mostly out of boredom.

I messed around with loads of skins until I found one I liked, typically one of the most plain I could find.

I can read it ok but it's very bland and grey. It's GPL so you should be able to remove the notice

Colours are oh so boring. Fairly plain without bright garish pinks & luminous greens is fine: but theres a balance to be found somewhere.

Comments arent being displayed, guess its some moderation/filtering setup, either that or it decided my pointless spam was pointless spam

It looks like shit if the browser window isnt wide enough. Rather than adding scrollbars to the browser window various elements start overlapping each other, text disappears under the menu, etc.

And the real comment: its just another pointless blog that will get 2 entries, 1 comment and then ignored. Why bother?

Just find a template you like and then you can tweak the colours in the theme editor within the admin section.
