The old age mentioned is the game's old age, not the customers. :fluffle:
Every game runs it course and while some stick with a game until it gets "really old", but many will eventually grow bored of even a good game, meaning "life expectancy" and "old age" :m00:

(and yeah - there are older gamers then me, but I doubt there are many gamers who could be my grandparent considering my real life one is 87 :p )

Hehe - sorry mate wasnt having a go at you - or meaning you in particular with the granddad age :)
But your right games do age - some survive and mature - others die slowly others more rapidly.

There is no polite way to say this: there is something wrong with you if you feel the need to compare everything out there to WoW.

If it's not WoW then it's DoaC, or EQ, Runescape, Starwars...it's all comparable.
And I remember the big crash on Pry. Got lots of plats and shards....still had to go farm my artifacts again and the scrolls. It all went to shit and I left for classic Glastonbury. The Angelique/alb zerg killed RvR for us Mids. I took a break for a couple fo months and when I cam back my Zerker was speaking German. Shame I couldn't :(

WoW won't die, nor is it aging. Ppl are saying the same things when D&D, LotR and Aoc came out. Yes War (from what I've seen so far) is much much better because it fits more the type of game I like to play. The population of WoW might slack off for a bit like it did when the other games came out but many ppl will return for WotlK because they'll wanna see what the new content has to offer. Deathknight spree ftl.

WOW opens PVE to PVP transfers News // MMO /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More

I've been reading a lot of topics over this and those on the fence about WAR have just been shoved into the WAR camp by Blizzard themselfs :D

I mean allowing your pve playerbase (ie those that don't like RVR) to take the easy route to 'grand griefer' and pissing off your PVP playerbase (those who will like RVR) by making them feel cheated, betrayed, and not to mention destablising the pvp servers when the 'greifers' of PVE servers desend on mass onto a said pvp server (ie ques, a LOT more griefing).. It's a nice gift to WAR isn't it? (yea i know there is a lot of twits in wow but stilll more money for better patches and support our end)

I wonder how much of the 'player demands' Blizzard will bend over for to keep their playerbase 'happy', I mean this accouncement is strangly close to WAR's EA, but irronically what their doing isn't for those who may play WAR at all, in fact it's got nothing to support the pvpers... Shooting yourself in the foot much Blizzard?

But still more players for us to kill, ta Blizzard for your worse PR move ever :worthy:
Why will this annoy anyone?

Looks more like something to keep players and make them happy then making them so pissed off they'd leave to war.

Got a 70 and tired of PvE servers? No need to start playing war! Now you can transfer your character for a fee which will provide us with a bit more money.

aparantly it was way harder to level on pvp servers than on pve servers and maybe some pvp players will feel that they worked very hard to reroll on pvp servers and went to greater effort to level and equip their toons than the people who can now charcopy their chars to pvp servers.

Erm, it's not really harder. You might get ganked but when about 5% or less of your game time was levelling, no one gives a shit :)

I think you'll find most people will be happy to see more people on the servers, and to have some new blood in guilds etc.

i guess it will depend if this will have only a minority of players swapping from pve to pvp servers or if it will make landslide size differences.

if you are in a pve server in a guild and all of a sudden, 50 % of your guild buggers of to a pvp server, you might not be happy either.

They probably noticed a number of people on PVP servers cancelled their accounts, so are letting people transfer PVE to PVP, to keep servers full, I guess?

It will hurt the game in the short term at least for the following reason:

As you can 'PVP' quite easily on the PVE servers (seeing as all major PVP is instanced), the only soild reason many players will transfer to the 'PVP server ruleset' in to greif in the open world, yes many will be moving to their 'friends' however many just want to greif - theres no reason TO transfer server types in WoW (besides the friends thing) as they are basically the same and any true pvp in WoW will be queing and not in the open world, as there isn't any open world objectives (yet, but then again it'll be on the pve servers too)..

Thats the core issue with WoW world 'pvp' is mainly griefing and if the influx of tranfers is true, sure it'll be cash in blizzard's pocket in the short term but it'll turn the PVP servers into a situation just as bad as those 'FFA' servers you get, added the fact the ques will increase as Blizzard haven't relised the ally/horde balance will by thrown WAY off in pvp servers moreso now (one thing at least Mythic thankfully are trying to keep control via the server/client design itself) which will lead to MORE population tranfers, i'm beggining to think players are switching servers like they change clothes in WoW...

Either way Blizzard have really not thought it through and clearly it's a kneejerk reaction to WAR just around the corner to try and fill their pokets with money just in case the titanic does finally sink and to basically smokescreen it as 'we bend over backwards to keep our masses of cash givers aka players happy and do whatever they demand'.

It's going to backfire - I've yet to see a game thats done this actally gain somthng from it.
