Blizzard is now disbanded

Even though we overcame many obstacles, I think people grew tired of the game, and that being the primary reason for the disbanding of the guild.

If you want to read the full story of the guild then it is here:

1. The start: 1-2 years ago Splashor and some of his friends made the guild Blizzard. None of these people still play very active today, except maybe Zindy, the healer, who mostly played his RR7 hunter Guden, which is now sold. Anyway, the guild worked as long as the GM(Splashor) played 24/7. But when he got tired of the game, the guild eventually fell apart. Splashor then joined Nolby Pride. However Guden and Minime/Paradigm stayed and played in the guild, being its only two active members. At this time I was myself playing in either Legends of Midgard or Red Guard, can't remember which.

2. The revival: After the PvP server event, most people went back to their old servers. I was pretty quick to return to Excalibur because Camlann PvP made me disappointed. That was when the bridge camping and other lame activities were at its worst. At that time I was in Black Company, and Black Company was in a tough period with both GMs inactive and only Bouh as really active officer. Who I have to mention did a great work keeping that guild together. But at the time I was PvP hungry. I was even so PvP hungry that I had leveled a pac healer, Crowdcontrol. The easiest class in mid to find RvR groups with at that time.

Well, one day I talked to Splashor who wanted to start playing DAoC again. He was thinking of going back to NP, but they weren't very active at the time. So we getherd some people, quite an odd bunch of people, and decided to make an RvR guild. Since Splashor allready was GM over Blizzard, we decided to just use that guild and remove all previous members. In the start, things didnt work "that" well, but we did rather good for being a new and low RR guild. However, allready back then, there was a conflict between different wills. Some people wanted to make Blizzard a fg-like RvR guild, basicly just a fixed set-up. Others, like myself, didn't think that would hold in the long run, and since i became secondary GM I pretty much had my will :kissit: :kissit: :kissit: . So we started inviting more people and the guild expanded. At some times we even had two pure Blizzard full groups in emain running.

3. Until TOA: Until TOA came, things were pretty cool. The guild became more and more attractive and better and better players sought to join the guild. So we invited a great bunch of RP farmers. It was also quite a pain to have to deny all the nice and good people who wanted to join, just because we allready had enough of their class. But like Splashor said, we couldn't invite the whole realm. So things went on quite smoothly. But allready before TOA came, a lot of people had grewn tired of the game.

4. TOA: A little more than half of the active players in Blizzard stopped playing when TOA came. The ones left in the guild were mostly hardcore RP farmers. Who wouldnt let hours of deadly boring PvE stand in the way between them and emain. In the start things werent going very well. I guess thats what happens when you force PvPers into PvE. Most people just didn't want to play anymore and became semi-active. However, when we finally got together decent RvR groups, I think people were allready so endlessly tired of the game, including myself, that whine and dissatisfaction dominated both chat and ventrilo talk. Some may blame this on me. And yea I guess I have to take some of the blame. But then again, I am not the entire guild and its not entirely my responsibility to see to it that everything works.

Anyway, when people started leaving for various reasons I felt it like a great relief, and a golden opportunity to play the game for fun again, and not to play it to keep a guild together. So instead of inviting in new people and sorting things out. I will just as the guildmaster, disband the guild. I do however appologize to the people left in Blizzard, who have been loyal to the end.

Blizzard is no more. Thanks and cheers to the people who have played in blizzard, who we have played with, and who we have played against. :)

aye when it's more of a hassle than fun, you're doing something wrong. that's why i don't craft and try to assume as little responsibility- guarnteed that whatever good you try and do, someone will find a way to twist and bitch at you :)

I hear you. I had a period in TDD where it felt like most of my time was spent on keeping the guild together. That's in the past now and we got a few new officers and a new GM and things look a LOT better now :)

Sad to see Blizzard falls apart. You did well in both RvR AND PvE.

I can only speak for myself, but a few words regarding Kalba's comment: While it's true that getting bored of the game was not exactly the reason which made many including me actually type /gc quit in the end, there's a lot of truth behind Merchz's words. Most quited the guild because of an unfortunate incident, but it was only the thing which made people do the final decision. Problems had already started when ToA came as a lot of ppl left and the stupid amount of pve & rerolling required only made them worse.

We had some disagreements like I believe every guild has atleast had, but IMO our biggest problem was none had taken Splashors spot as someone who was very active, whose authority everyone always respected 100% and most importantly as someone who was always bringing the guild spirit up & solving possible problems.

RIP Blizzard, atleast I had great time.

Sad day to see the old guild disband.

Was there at the forming and the mistake that created the Guild Emblem :)

Thanks to those few in the early days that helped Flinx get to 50.
and I still have that Glowy Red Sword Splashor gave me.

Blizzard Gone but not forgotten.....

Flinx 50 Hunter (Sword and proud)
Bulwei 50 Warrior (Short Blue anklebitter)
Flanx 50 Skald (Taxi to the Stars)

TOA has had an effect on every guild in the game i think most guilds have lost a lot of people who have either /quit for good or are now hardly ever on, my guild who a few months ago (pre toa) could get a fairly good GG out most nights now struggles as key classes arent online.. Its a shame but thats just the way it is :(

btw good luck to you all :)

I beg to differ. After ToA Red Shadows have done more guild activities than ever, and after we've dun sumthing we usually go "Hey why don't we go claim a keep and/or roam odin/ezerg/df (..ermm... I mean emain :p ) while we at it" :D

RIP, Blizzard! :( And for one minute, I thought you were talking about the game development company, and that WoW was going belly up. ;)

Tis sad to hear :(

I was in Blizzard first time round, and Splash0r was what made it special and fun, when Splash0r left for NP, the guild became very broken. A good few (like me) went to White Rose.

I was overjoyed to see Blizzards return and to see the "Hot Dog Sellers" emblem hung over Bledmeer to say "hay we're back" was awesome. :).

I had a great time in Blizzard, respect to Splash0r. Bye bye :(

I suspect when NF comes along Splash0r my return....
