Well...not really. Saying the team is working on something doesn't mean him, the article is very poorly quoted(bet he said more then that) and most people rejoiced when wilson left.

Which only goes to show that it's all about the hate, not about the facts ;)

No, this is Jay Wilsons way of blaming the auction house instead of accepting responsibility for putting out a shit game.

But HE was the one that wanted the RMAH to begin with. Doesn't this make him take at least that much responsibility?

and for once (knock on wood) he actually has a valid point.

The RMAH didn't add anything good to the general community that are playing. It's turned in to a necessary evil and a cashcow for farmers.

Prime example was in that same story with the guy that managed to earn 10.000 USD legit.

So now everyone that knew that this was coming can tell him "told you so!"... :D :D :D

I still don't think the RMAH was all that bad, it certainly wasn't the reason I stopped playing, boredom did that.

Nah, wasn't the only reason but it was a contributing factor. You could argue people would just buy items else where like they did in Diablo II but again that alone wasn't really a reason to implement it into Diablo III - I think the main things that ruined Diablo III for me was

- Not enough monsters

- 4 Player only was for coop was pretty weak, would have liked to see it abit higher, say 6-8

- Story in general was quite dire, expected more of it for the time they had

- Items, which is pretty much the driving force behind Diablo III were all screwed/poorly itemized/only farmable by broken specs or exploiters at launch - was blatantly an attempt at forcing people to fork out real money for them once the above had listed them

- Lack of skill choices, as soon as I heard they had strayed away from the classic talent tree I knew there and then it was going to fail horribly and there would only be 2-4 builds for every single class (and surprise I was right)

All that said they are trying to rectify the problems and are slowly/successfully doing so, for me its still pretty boring tho :/ I tried Paragon levels out once they went live, got a monk to Paragon 55 or so back when everyone was still leveling and I must say it was possibly the most boring thing i'd ever done to date.

The whole idea of adding another leveling tier once you hit max level was just like /lolwhat?, they did say "Its not mandatory and just for fun" which was clearly bullshit, when they announced you'd gain additional stats (str/vit/int etc) for leveling it became mandatory. What they should have done for Paragon levels is given only Magic Find and Gold find - not classic specific stats like str/vit/int etc.

For me diablo was fun, for a while, but i've simply outgrown it/not in the mood for hack&/ now. Tried path of exile, again fun, but just no energy to play it with dedication.

It is going the right way now atleast, its just a shame the development team didn't ship the game with many of these changes.

Playing this on and off whilst I wait for my new PC. Must say it is better than when I last played (last year maybe?), however, still not the game it could have been. There just seems to be no 'goal'. I know with D2 at least you always had something to aim for, that next item you needed to farm, working your way up the ladder maybe. It made you feel like you had a chance of getting that item. Shenk/pindle runs could be done in seconds. A rythym built up, perhaps. No need to worry about NV buffs. They have balanced this game around the AH so its pretty much impossibly/pointless to play without it. I got a Life leech Skorn the other day for 1mill. 1.3k dps. Why did I buy it? Because it was there and sadly buying it was more satisfying than playing a game for another 1000+ hours in the vain hope I'll get something half as decent. Without the AH I would never have known it would be 1000 hours. It may happen right now. A fallen may drop a Ber rune or something. It might just happen. D3 has taken that away.

At least PoE was free and had about the same amount of content (PvE) :) PoE has a much better skill tree, work of fucking genius!

I bought a weapon from the AH just to see how the thing worked. After that I haven't used it since and for the life of me I can't understand why there's a "real money" AH.

They thought it would make them millions :p to be fair it probably has made them quite a pretty penny but nowhere near what they expected I bet and in return its basically destroyed the community feel of Diablo III and one of the points behind the game. One of the main factors with Diablo games was always having to find the gear yourself, with Diablo III you could simply pay to win which screwed it imo.

yeah totes. I looked at the AH again last night and they seem to say they take 15% of every transaction. when I browse kit there is like a bajillion different versions of the same weapon, etc all priced at absolutely insane amounts of gold. tbh I am selling some reserve rare kit that I am not using just to see if I can. I think I asked 500k for my best armor piece with some gems in. Nice to clear out the old stash chest without turning everything in to essences and hooves and stuff :)

Tis why I'm now looking forward to Marvel Heroes :) only played 1 of the closed beta phases but it felt an awful lot like Diablo II - its being made by David Breivik, the man basically responsible for Diablo I and II, also has no auction house and alot of features that quite frankly are awsome.. best part is its 100% free to play.

for 1 million gold maybe 2mill you can make a really solid Wizz set from the AH, but then it costs 2mill per upgrade..then you'll need say 50mill to go further when you make like 100k selling shit yellows. But its kind of pointless since you get such shit drops and your grinding the same level with the cheap set as you would in the expensive set as its more effective to speed farm. Bloodomens No8 post in this thread pretty much somes it up.

yeah I hear you. tbh I've only just broken in to paragon levels with my barb and am only NOW starting to get drops that are actually better than what I had: I mean, I've been running the same armor and weaps for like a good 10 ~15 levels because I had a (imo) decent setup and nothing that dropped was better...then when I hit 55 or thereabouts I had a hammer drop that had something like 500 damage so I went from a 200something sword to that.

Then I had a legendary helm drop (two legendary items dropped to date playing a single char from normal up to inferno now) so I've been using that for the past 7 levels. Re crafting, I've got the blacksmith at 10 and Shen at 9. Top level gear is insane to get together man 0o

Maybe one day I'll get my monk from paragon 55 to paragon 100, I really cant be bothered atm tho, its like pulling teeth grinding xp. The worse part about Paragon xp is they say "Oh its not mandatory you don't need to do it" yes, actually you do because you gain base stats from each Paragon level - so not only do you now have to get to level 60 but you have to go out and grind an additional 100 levels just to max out your character.

Was such a mistake on their behalf adding base stats to paragon levels, should have just left it at Magic find/Gold find.

lol I haven't met Inferno level sand-wasps and biting swarms yet, but tbh my most hated things are chains and arcane laser things. oh, and moltens starting a lava pit under my char that I don't see because there's so much fire going on on the screen when I get ganged by them. "why is my health dropping so fast?" whellp...cos the Teedlebarb is up to his nuts in friggin LAVA that's why

Lol, to little to late really :) even without that AH bug the economy was already out of sync due to early game farming/other dupes and being able to buy gold for RL cash.

Auction house in an action rpg was just a piss poor idea period.

"Gamers quickly discovered that by cancelling "gold" auctions in the game, they could freely duplicate the in-game currency - with one user building up a reported 371 trillion gold using this method."

Lol, 371 trillion gold and they didn't roll it back? if one player has done that, imagine what gold selling companies have done.

But how COULD they roll it back? The gold and RM AH are so tightly connected that it would cause players to lose real money if they did that.

That said, you can get about 20 million gold for less then a dollar right now last i heard.....
