the doctor told me to use surgical spirit but i can't because my foot is currently half bare.

I get blisters from being on my feet all day at work. I never used to, it's only in the last year I have had this problem. Tried 4 different pairs of shoes but nothing works.

you don't happen to get very sweaty feet do you? what kind of footy boots do you use? tbh use natural fiber socks and fully leather boots if at all possible. make sure your boots aren't too small.

let your feet heal completely before you venture out again mate. you can try hardening your feet up by going barefoot around the house, or wearing thin natural fiber socks and purposefully going out for a stride every day (think walking a dozen laps about the footy field. Your feet should harden out nicely.

don't seem to have particularly sweaty feet. don't own football boots so wore a pair of trainers and if anything my shoes are too big because i have stupidly wide feet.

i go barefoot around the house but i've always had really dodgy skin on my feet, often got blisters and dead skin when i was working in a job where i was on my feet all day, not had much of a problem since i've been a student though ;p

the doctor recommended surgical spirit so i'll try that once it's fully healed. supposed to be playing in a tournament on sunday though ;/

Wear thicker socks. I get blisters on my hands when I'm struggling with a particularly old and rusty screw, and I'm forcing the screwdriver down with the palm of my hand.

I agree with the socks thing. I play football alot and wearing two pairs of socks reduces the blisters I get.

Of course I do get some if i go all out, but the extra pair of socks helps to reduce the damage.

And yeah, dont play with blisters if they havent healed, buy some blister plasters as they help alot.

Heh, I get the same, hence my prefference for electrical screwdrivers.

If you can, buy some Zinc Oxide and tape up your feet in places you know you will blister BEFORE you actually play the footie.

Also, get some Foot Power/Talc and get that in...it'll help with any sweat.

Trust me, I was an infantryman :p

Wearing two pairs isn't about the thickness though it's the reduction in rubbing caused by allowing the socks to rub against each other rather than your feet and the surface of the shoe. It's an old runners trick, wear one thicker than the other, although i can't remember if the thin one goes inside or outside, think it's inside, but i could be remembering incorrectly.

Get a pair of boots, or astroturfs that fit you. Go to a proper sports shop to buy them, not a JJB/Soccer Sports or whatever, and get them fitted properly. It's as simple as that. Your old knackered trainers are not designed to support your feet for football, so your feet are moving around in them causing you blisters.

Listen to your doctor, surgical spirit over time will do the job. Just let your foot heal up first.

i used to get horrendous blisters playing footie - most of the flesh on the ball of my foot being stripped off

2 pair of socks fixed this.

While true, make really sure you aren't allergic to zinc oxide tape before anyone tries this. I've seen it peel off the skin it was attached to, leaving raw flesh behind. :/

I never found the 2 pair of socks thing to work, its not normal to wear 2 pairs of socks unless you are a freak with small feet. Let the foot heal then do as the Doc said.

Get some proper boots as well, the first time you wear them you will probably get blisters on your heels anyway. Unless ofc you take a piss in them and leave them over night with soggy newspaper in them. Dubing also help soften them up.

When me and my friends used to buy new boots you have to soften them up, the best way to do this is is to piss in them.

I do a lot of running these days and when I first started getting into it blisters were a major problem, but as you keep up the exercise the skin will thicken reducing the occurrence, but yeh good sports socks and well fitting shoes are a must. If you do pop them, which is not advisable, don't do anything for a few days otherwise the skin may come of and you'll get a nasty raw patch which is infinitely more painful.

Diddnt know it was bad to pop the blisters, always did it and cut the skin away with a small pair of nail scissors then bunged a plaster over it.

Did hurt a bit tho :p
