I dunno how Muse and Rammstein got in here either.

The german press have been trying to have a pop at Rammstein for years, one rag accusing them of being pro-Nazi because they sing in...German...well duh.

On the other hand I do agree KMFDM > Rammstein :)

The worst bit of "music" I heard in recent times was Avril Lavigne covering System of a Down and Led Zep. Travesty. I'd still love to shoot up her tho.

No, it's just Thom mumbling incoherently over guitar based tuneless plinking. It's better than Amnesiac, but then so is they Cheeky Girls album.

Blazin' Squad are just a bunch of retarded tossers. The only consolation is that any money that they make has to get split between all 10 of the little pikeys.

Then there are the pointless 'musicians' like, as previously said, that fat slag from Pop Idol, S Club Juniors (Shoot Them).

We need some more by Michael Jackson (Although this soon could be a little tricky). We need music which after a few bevvies will result in me getting on my feet and doing a suicidially awful dance routine during Dirty Diana. What we don't need are a bunch of prepubcecent twats who attempt (and nearly succeed) in scrambling my brain with their high pitched wails, and then have the bloody cheek to get paid for it. What we do not need are a bunch of pikey's prancing around some rundown M-road doing their 'bling bling' shite, thinking they are the dogs whatsits, whilst flapping their arms around thinking they look cool.

Excuse my rantings, but if one thing really gets on my man-breasts its people who think they are great musicians doing it, and saying 'I do it for the music. Money has nothing to do with it'. Thats crap. If you were doing it for the music, then you could at least try, but ooh no.....ok i'm going to stop now.

I wouldn't call jonnys guitar playing tuneless plunking :(

and tbh Thoms vocals style isn't that greatly different from the old stuff, although its not pronounced as much.

Slipknot are shit, Mick is a good guitarist, however. Well actually he's not all that good. All he does is tune his guitar stupidly and then shred.

Thats who I forgot to add to my list - thanks my grammatically challenged friend. Slipknot. Undoubtedly one of the least talented bands ever.

One should not be so fast to drag great bands thru the mud solely because there overrated. If you know shit about music you can appreciate it anyway(if there's anything to appreciate). On that note let the bashing begin.

Muse is horribly overrated. I wont go in deeper because I will get flamed by all the teens. I have one word to describe my problem with them though: Vocals

Radiohead has gone downhill after OK computer which was in my opinion a masterpiece. I guess the artistical drive went out the window while trying to make it in the US.

And Rammstein is like someone said earlier just a KDFM clone with theatrics and a "wow" factor in the german vocals which draws people in. They have just capitalized on something someone else experimented forth. Happends all the time sadly.

Slipknot is always fun debating. Especially because of the ignorance of there standard fan. Slipknot altough a interesting project mixing aggression from more light shy genre's with a kind of subtle catchyness and a image that made em suitable for mtv and such propelled them into stardome when the big nu-metal boom came around in the late 90's. And I will go as far as to say, yes they have talent, it's only so well hidden behind the first impression of people in clown masks beating oilbarrels. The most obvious talent is the drummer, altough well hidden he has some totally alright bass drum technique, that's if you can actually hear it over the sound of oilbarrel bashing. That's it, that's all it is.

The fact that they went from a normal extreme metal band to what we call nu-metal band is very obvious if you pick up there older cd's. No curse words there for the sole purpose of appeling to angry youth, no extra members having "I beat oilbarrels" in there job description in the lineup. There's even some jazz influences on the old once's.

To summarize, I wouldnt call slipknot a bad musical act, they have changed there music to fit more commercially though. Which kinda adds to the crappyness level.

I have to disagree there. I'm not the biggest Muse fan in the world, i can take them or leave them. But the one thing i really like about them is Matt's Vocals. When he goes into Falsetto mode its just outstanding. With his guitar playing...while i can appreciate the fact that he is a good player, thats undoubtable, it's just not really what i like. I don't think they're horribly overrated at all, just a bit fanboi FoTM.

I disagree, they just experimented with much different sounds on Amnesiac and Kid A, which a lot of people disliked. Problem with making brilliant albums like OK Computer, how do you consistently follow them up? I think they've started to move back to the guitar style of OK computer in hail to the theif, but havn't totally left all the new ideas totally behind, and as such, a lot of people only really appreciate half of the album.

I might add that my experience with Muse is for a large part based on what I have seen live from them. I like most musician lover's should (can be discussed but still) atleast want the same thing live as I get on a CD or if possible closely resembling what's on the cd. Enter Muse, the live experience. When the music gets too comprimised by what your studio technican can do to fix your screw up's and faults in a studio there's hard to hide it live. Muse was to put it nicely, less then enjoyable live. Now, I understand alot of people dont go see music live but my views are largerly coloured by it.

So you like Muse? Fine, just dont go see em live.

Why would you want to see a band who grind out a live set identical to a cd? Surely the point of going to a live show is to see them do something that you couldn't get at home, especially since 99.9% of shows have less than stellar sound unless you're standing directly in front of the booth. Why not just stay at home, get better sound, have a cheaper night?

I've walked out on live bands before just because they sound exactly the same as they do on CD. I left Smashing Pumpkins to go get fish and chips because if I wanted to see/hear bands doing sound for sound renditions of what's on the CDs, I'd watch TOTPs.

That said, MUSE are crap. I think they guy sounds like an angst riddled version of Lambchop.

I totally disagree, I go to see life bands warts and all, If I wanted to listen to cd quality, polished music I'd be listening to cd's.

Live music is all about passion and the rawness of it all.

I've seen Muse live not in person, but I've seen them on MTV2 a couple of times and the Hullaballo DVD, and tbh they are awesome. Matt has the best voice in rock period, and is not far off it with a guitar in his hands. But if you want I'll try emailing Muse and see if, on their next tour, they can just put their back catalogue on for you to listen to. Who wants to see a brilliant musician at work anyway?

They are the best british rock band, and have been since Origin of Symmetry. They may be FotM slightly, but then again, they're FotM every time they bring an album out, which must tell you something.

I want em to be able to play what I hear on the cd live. Which muse is by far not able to do once all the layers of production are lifted. And who said I want them to play exactly in the order of the cd which you make it sound like I was meaning. Live, there's sloppy playing(on easy ass riffs I might add), untight drumming and that damn "I breath out my lyrics" vocal style just totally put's me off. Just goes to show what production and a catchy video on tv can do. Muse are and probably will remain a bad overenergetic radiohead copy with a nasal singer. That's my opinion, live with it.

And if you walk out on a band just because they sound just like the cd, shouldnt that make you wonder how the cd sounds in the first place? If the material is a total drag and the songs are bland chances are they will do the same live or try and hide it by running around like a mad man and calling it passion or rawness or whatever you wanna call it. Passion is nothing without preciscion. I wont accuse Muse of being unenergetic live, there not, there just uninteresting and unfocused.

Heh, remember what I first said about Muse in my first comment, that I would not go into detail about it. Well here you have the reason, all the mtv watching UK folks would directly come to there defense with more or less thought thru comments. Lets just face it, there just filling the void after radiohead whilst above mentioned are making more and more experimental records. And on that note im done on this subject in this thread. Happy bashing kiddos!
