eurgh, i just did a poo and it was a really really dark black colour and kind of freaked me out. why is this happening to me?

Its also could be something alot more serious, so unless you drank alot of guiness or red wine the night before, got see a doctor.

Blood from stomach ulcers will turn your poop dark, as can quite a few other medical conditions

If it's dark black and not dark brown then it might be blood in it and this is not a good sign. If it keeps up like that, visit a doctor.

But as some said, it might be some food/drinks with iron, if iron mixes up gastric acid your poo gets black too. Some are known to shit black after some wine .

also you'll find that often find that if it's due to internal bleeding
it'll will show it self as a thin dark/black crust

so if your looking a light coloured poo with a black crusting "outer layer" then it's time to get the doctor on the phone asap.

all dark poo can be a whole bunch of things, so as a rule of thumb you shouldnt worry too much unless it's consistant over a longer period of time or accompanied by lower abdominal pain.
