Anyone else had their account hacked? mine been done 2 times now if anyone else had any problems please join me and we go kill em all (ill supply the gunz)

Twice? Man thats real unlucky.........out of curiousity, do you cut/paste your password from clipboard? Was a thread on DAoC/Excali/Hib/General Discussion about that, some nob stealing passwords from other peeps clipboards. I know it wont bring back all yer kit, but it may explain what you got hacked twice.

Then again it may not, either way sry to hear you got screwed, no one deserves that

can i point you at this IE "bug"?

Under the tools menu of IE, select Internet Options > Security > (select
zone)
> Custom Level. Under scripting, disable "Allow paste operations via
script."
or set it to "prompt" if you wish to be notified when this sort of operation
is being conducted.

Basically if you have the password in your clipboard and visit a site with some javascript that copies the clipboard (and you'ld never know about it) - this switches the facility off....

i dunno if this helps but nearly everytime i log onto DAOC my firewall blocks a trojan atempting to access my pc just wondering if u are using a firewall?

me no got pw on pc, got it on bits of paper all round house and bout that firewall+virus scanny thingy (not really awake writin this so might not make ne sense ) got both. anyone know wot i can do 2 stop gettin hacked again (apart from killing every1 who has a pc in the world) ?

Once someone has your subs pass then your pretty fucked, they can get your password anytime by logging onto the account page.

And thanks to GOA/Mythics bullshit rules you cannot change your subs pass.

I've heard it works in a different and a much better way on the US servers, anyone know how exactly?, and why they haven't done this on EU servers?

on usa servers gamepass = subspass and can be changed at any time

you can get the pass if you have the secret word you set, but if you forget that = :////

On the US servers, when you open an account you pick a password and a "secret word" which correspond more or less to the game password and the subscription password. Payment is managed directly through the game patcher, you type your credit card number right into DAoC. As far as Mythic is concerned, whoever knows the secret word for an account, is the account owner, end of story, so yes, accounts do get stolen on Mythic's servers just as often as they do here. 99 times out of 100 it's not some uber hacker using his elite skills to steal private data, it's just some lying thief who was trusted by the wrong person.

Why doesn't GOA use the same system as Mythic? Primarily because of the online payment. Mythic handles its own secure payment system and integrated it directly into the game client. GOA subcontracts the payment to another company that runs the secure payment servers. That company requires that payment happen using its own web site, so GOA had to build a web-based subscription management system that could interact with the payment system. At that time, they decided to separate the subscription password from the game password, and eliminate the "secret word" system altogether.

Both systems have strengths and weaknesses. Both are vulnerable at the same point: if you give your password to someone, they can screw you over. Don't give your password to anybody, ever.
