what's the concensus......... is this an establishment warning...

i don't know if this abuse ever happened but 18 years seems a bit extreme.. is this just for lying or is it for the images he got caught with.......

Nah, that's not the guidelines, but I'd imagine that's how it works in practice.

People in public life who get accused of this shit get their lives finished, and their lives finishing will also make big news.

But if someone who isn't known (happens in teaching ALL the time) gets accused, then their life is ruined but it won't make headlines.

I just feel like it must be relative to who the accused is.

Given it's pretty much the worst accusation you can make against a man, it can put you physically in danger (because of fuckwits) and even when the accusation goes away people dont forget it; nah, pretty reasonable

At least 19 years. So different structure to the other sentence (maximum 18 so he'll be out in 12).

While I agree 19 isn't enough, you're making a false equivalence between the two sentences.

You don't get less for murder. You get life for murder in English courts. You may be paroled earlier, but the sentence is still life.
