Bike shops online?

After a new set of pedals and some kit, although will probably go into a store for the kit.

Buying clothes online is a pain in the arse, I much prefer buying it in a shop.

CRC are pretty good if you know what you want, though if there are any problems, they can be a real pain in the arse to sort stuff out.

never quite been able to get my head round them myself. I'm on the bad old shimano 520's, and flat pedals for the funbike.

Eggbeaters tend to wear through the bottom of your shoes. Especially if you have nice carbon-soled numbers.

SInce we are talking about pedals now...I've got Time ATAC Z pedals. Lots of float, so kind to your knees, a big platform so you don't need to stop if you miss the clip, and you can use the clip as a bottle opener.

The inner tube I don't mind, I just whipped it off and put the spare on. Its the fact that it also blew a hole through the side of my brand new back tyre that really hacks me off. Thats the third fucking tyre in a year!

I have used Time pedals and not a massive fan but good, I use the eggbeaters for the mudclearence

I'm not clear on the pedals tbh. Time's scare me because they're huge, Crankbros eggbeaters scare me because they're tiny. o0

Only my Times scare you because they are huge, surely? Most of them are more averagely sized.

Are there any decent bike racks people can recommend (for a car with a boot)?

I'm getting a bit sick of dismantling/assembling mine every time I go for a ride.

Are racks thief-proof (not with the bike on obviously)?

afaict, racks either "clip" to your boot/hatch, or are fixed to your tow hook in some manner.

I once had one that had a fitting that bolted to the hook's stem, and the rack itself slotted through the fitting and had a hole that a padlock could fit through. However, a resourceful thief could prolly undo the bolts or something.

dunno what car you currently have Tom (wasn't it an A4?), but you may be better off with a roof rack perhaps?

Its got a big boot so there should be plenty of space. Roof racks are noisy and more difficult to get the bike up there, I'd rather not
