ahhh, but don't you see, we already have this. Our current way of handling it is to cover our eyes'n'ears and pretend it's not true, it's not happening, and it'll go away soon.

I went to Amsterdam about 15 years ago (for a Pink Floyd concert), pretty fekin cool setup I thought...soft drugs over the counter in certain establishments, junkies got clean needles & purity tests for their stash etc. I don't think it goes far enough with the hard drugs imho.

I owuld have agreed with you Paradroid, for many years. However I cant say I do anymore. Theres no point making it even easier for people to use drugs, hard or otherwise. Herb just makes you a lazy introverted person in the end anyway
As far as H goes, dishing out methdone and diamorphine doesnt necsesarily help either. Back in the day the junkies all got it, but sold 25% of thier script anyway, to others who then became harder users as well. In my day there was fuck all street smack in the town, there was no need , it was shit anyway, and you could get proper pharm stuff from any of the wankers standing outside Boots at 8am any weekday morning, plus clean works and everything too.
Its a cancer imo, wastes peoples lives. All the people I knew then, except one, are dead now.

I rekon if the UK were to legalise weed/other soft drugs in a similar manner to the way holland has done it, it would be wise to have a UK citizen only policy - ie they wont forners or people they dont trust without a passport. It would stop what is happening in amsterdam happening in UK cities - ie fucked up tourists rolling around the streets causing trouble for the locals.

Again, that's my point. You've witnessed a steady increase in drug use, with only one person surviving the dreaded H. This has all been under our current system of dealing with it, and it hasn't worked.

How many H users die from overdoses and/or bad-shit? This wouldn't happen if people got their H from a licensed dispenser.

If you take the position that we should just try harded to ban it, you're ignoring the international/global position. If H was grown/produced solely in the UK at our discretion then it might be workable - but there's lots of countries out there who produce these crops and whilst they do H will find it's way onto our streets (supply & demand).

You're not reading it right. They are all dead, not from overdoses or bad shit. There was NO bad shit, only pharmacutical stuff. They died of heart attacks, of blood clots and such like. You can put that shit into yourslef all the time and expect to live ok.
And now you dont get so much prescribed Heroin, there is significantly less use in Crawley. It was far more available from the junkies selling thier scripts.

Education is the only thing we've got to stem the flow of people doing drugs...I'm fairly well educated but it didn't stop me trying drugs (the only class A I did though was acid), but I reckon I was smart enough not to dabble with H.

The stuff I've posted is, as I see it, the only thing we could easily do - given our current situation. However, I also see the larger picture ...

I've seen a couple of friends turn into complete wasters because of Cannabis too, it's not harmless, just depends on the amount of use.
