cool, though...
He said if attempts to re-direct the whale downstream failed, it may be necessary to put it down to prevent from suffering further.

who says it's suffering?

Well, at least if someone from the future needs to come back in time to get a Northen Bottlenosed Whale, they won't have to go to the open sea to get one ;)

most likely it will mangle itself on a propeller or get stuck in some tidal section somewhere and end up having to be shot and barbequed.

The Thames has nowhere near enough fish to support a whale. It will starve quickly.

Recall when a whale came up the River Mersey, that got quite a bit of coverage as well [Unsure about nationally though].

I think it got more coverage because of the simple fact that it got stranded... got saved, moved to safety and then come back again and got stuck..

About 3 times... Quite funny.

Cant remember what happened to it though.. might have a quick look now
