BG rangers anygood? Got an idea on good spec/template?

Ok so i been told rangers are fun and for 1st time ever im thinking of making a ranger for thid to try it out.

I need a good spec, ie do i auto bow? is it worht it?
And has anybody made a template with items from quests or other?
Could use some guidence if ya already been down this path thankyou...
