Its not too hard to level from 1-5 - I did it in 1 hour with my theurgist (maybe a little slow but hey).

My minstrell on the other hand went from 1 to 10 in 4 hours thanks to Zaodus (i think) who was buffing anyone and everyone free of charge on Pry bridge last Sunday for about 6 hours. It does make a difference but people should not beg and plead for either cash or buffs. My wizzy will buff anyone that is grey to them as he runs past them.

What IS annoying is when I'm in an area, alone, looking for a group and someone says no, they dont want a wizard in the group. 1 minute later, they say "Can u buff us m8?". How does that work?!

Hmm, usually people give me buffs and I don't even ask for them. This happens in DF when I am just resting... don't know why. But I have never seen anyone ask for seals, like you said "Seals of buffs please", and I can understand how that could be quite annoying.
I find people to be quite polite in DF and such... maybe I hang around different types of people /emote shrugs.

Yestarday I had been accidentally asked for the most distant rez ever. I was about to fell of my chair when i /who and I saw XXX in yggdra forest, while i was at Lyonnese.

I know it was accident , but I was laughing for 10 mins.

No-one gives out buffs anymore.

I saw this armsman casting spells and he didn't give me a shield buff and I asked nicely too. Then some wizard gave his friend Amber a ton of buffs but didn't give me any, must have been his girlfriend or something.

But have to say that when i ask armsmen for shield buffs they usually act the same way ..... i wonder why

And for the record, just how many buffs can a wizz give ? Ill give you a clue, 1+1= ?

I did ask him to try again twice, but why some people assume it's their God given right to command buffs from elementalists is beyond me
