Telecoms comapanies have been doing this for years. NTL, Telewest, they've all sent letters to high users. And what do those users do?

Good lord, you're paying £29.99 a month for it? I'm paying that for my 24mbit with UKOnline, capped at 500gb a month. Added to that, the two times I've had problems (one teething problem when moving to 8mb, the other the same but for 24mb) I've spoken to a competent english person.

I guess 30 a month isn't the biggest deal, and if you're not the sort of person to worry about the priciple of the thing, then fine. I am though, and I think it's fucking disgraceful :\

Throd doesn't download, all he does is browse and play games. I am on UK Online 8mb and throds ping is always similar to mine if not sightly better(between 10-20), thats kinda all throd cares about which is fair enough. I do hate BT though(long story) and would never use them, throd has always used BT and he has never ever had a problem in all the years I have known him so its a case of horses for courses.

Sorry for speaking for you there throd but at your age I think its about time you had a carer to do these things for ya

More to the point , I probably need to start caring And quite right, I just play games and browse websites , plus download the odd patch for a game.
To be honest, Dysfunction, who I play CSS with a lot, has an 8mb line, and im sure he can download like mad, but his connection for gaming is almost always worse than mine.

I reckon Dys has issues his end rather than UK Onlines end. I don't get full download speed(around 500kbs) with them but for gaming it is fucking sweet. I do get a pretty good upload speed as well which afaik helps pings.

Of course I do live in a street where the majority of people are older so I may just be the only one there who is on UK Online/Broadband, or doesn't that matter? Dys may have 400 people in his street on UK Online or something.
