Beta Test of Half-Life Player Statistics Software HLstats on BarrysWorld

hi fans and air conditioners,

Thanks to some excellent work from DBs, we're happy to announce a beta test of Half-Life Player Statistics Software HLStats.

From Thursday morning, all 20 of our public Counter-Strike servers will be reporting to HLStats and providing player ranking information, and much much more. This is initially to load test theHLStats engine, and the stats webserver. We are running a standard configuration with little customisation (you'll see it's even the default HLStats web page at the moment) during this beta test, but if all is successful we will roll it out to all the HL mods and add all the bells and whistles, and also colouring it those lovely shades of puke green you've grown to know and love.

Aside from rankings, HLStats provides a fully searchable player database (by playername or wonid) which will eventually be a powerful admin tool against cheats, plus an rcon command log. You can also see at a glance who is playing on servers, and by clicking on player names go to their profile. You can set information on your profile (such as name, ICQ, email address etc) from *within* the game you are playing also.

BarrysWorld's HLStats is currently running on a test location at:

Remember, once we have finished load testing, it will be given a full makeover, and more HL public servers added to it for the various mods (so don't bug us about your favourite mod!).

Right now only 2 servers are included in the statistics, but from 6am tomorrow (Thursday) all 20 CS servers will be in the stats.

you can set from while playing using the SET command - see the HLStats help (point 4).

That was from DBs. He's activated the stats on our clan server. However, for the logaddress thing, I require a port. Is this 27500 -the standard HLstats port - or something else? I 'pmed' DBs and natrat but no reply. Any ideas?

( I presume you dont put [ ] 's around the ip and port yes?)

Ive entered that in the config on the server page, but still no cheese Has the I.P changed, now that you've moved the stats from that old place to gamestats.barrysworld.com?

You wont notice anything different.

The game engine just blats UDP packets to me, I process them.

Nothing has changed.

Well, forgive me if I'm wrong [I usually am ] , but ive logged onto my server etc.. , but when I look at my player event history:

it doesnt display anything to do with the Clan DJ server, only a Barrysworld Counter Strike server (7), a server I've played on...

Oh wait, does it still log information if Im the only player on the server? If so that would explain it.. We'll have a full house tonight, so that should test it..

what is your barryserver ip and port, i'll check if you have set it up correctly, and not used a : or anything between ip and port in logaddress, and checked the Enable ERmote Logging option.

you entered the logaddress incorrectly. It states very clearly the syntax. it is:

logaddress [ip] [port]

that would be:

213.221.176.96 27500

in the box in the custom config.

You left off the port.

Im not trying to be cheeky or anything but that was how i entered it lol.

The only thing is, did i need to restart the server for the custom config to take place? I've got a screenshot of how it was, but it just wasnt working.

If it's anyhelp, i had the error ' your barryserver is not running', that's why just a minute ago i loaded it up all again. I selected 'standard 1' as the config - the config with all the logaddress stuff in it - yet now it still says that I'm running:

"Half-Life / Counter-Strike / 3 v 3 CS League (All day, every day) on server svr16.barryserver.com:27019 (213.221.174.57:27019)"

Grr, ill reset it one more time...

**** UPDATE ****

Right, ive reloaded the server running the config 'standard 1'. It has all the correct commands for logging - e.g the server ip and port as '213.221.176.96 27500' - so it should work )

If by any chance ud like a tfc clan to run on their then id happily volunteer my clans server (been tryin to run hlstats for ages on my own system but php and sql always defeated me :E )

By the way, and sorry for being of topic, is there a referals system for barryservers? Ive got asked quite a lot about the server in game and people have then gone and inquired about it. Is there a referal system, or is it just in good nature we do this lol..
