What is the best way to keep people out of your computer?

apart from software firewalls, NAT boxes?

Not that im worried but would be nice to know that is secure

run a software firewall
run a good virusscanner
don't run everything as administrator -create a user heh
don't run unnecessary software
never let anyone on the computer unless you've made a user for them
never run those 'fun' attachments you get a la 'prettypark.exe'
DON"T use ms outlook.
disable java/javascript/visual basic/vbscript

those are reasonable guidelines imo

what would of happened if i did get really paranoid and format my hdd i would'nt of been impressed... And being as my bint is a solicitor i would of killed someone ass

Buy a cheapo pentium computer, install nt on it, connect your pc to that via an ethernet connection, run a decent firewall. Connect to the internet through that computer.

Much more secure (so my computer network friend tells me)

anyhoo, a system is only as secure as you make it. you could be running ubersecure openbsd with a mis-configured ftp server and thus get cracked. imo the premiere rule is to know what you're doing [failing that, get as close to knowing what you're doing as you can heh].
