Best thirst quencher drink

Was dying of thirst earlier this afternoon and necked a bottle of ice cold water.

OK, it kinda did the trick but it lacked something.

If I'm training, I usually find a pint of OJ & lemonade does the trick. On a boiling hot day, a cold crisp pint of lager hits the spot. Somehow water - even ice cold - seems to lack something...

All my m8s say cider is the perfect thirst killer. Everyone has their own remedy. Is it purely down to taste in the end ? Alcoholic or non-alcoholic ?

Getting another thirst again, just thinking about this lol

i dont think something has to be ice cold just to quench thirst, and i feel that maybe where people are going wrong.

i think something with taste that gets the saliva going is good at quenching thirst.

Fair comment. Sometimes a nice brew beats everything.

I tend to find regular water or tea does the trick well, i mostly drink that at work.

freezing cold five alive was my old fave at my old job as we had drinks vending machines there, we dont at my new job :/

Actually roomtemp water is, if i remember correctly, better for thirst as it blends faster to the bloodstream or something like that. Atleast works wonders with sore throat.

milk is thicker than blood, so it doesn't 'quench'. Or something like that :p

To be honest, i think it's your technique that's wrong. not the drink. Gulping down water will often just give you a swollen belly and a slight feeling of wetness on your throat, what you want to do is sip it, take regular, slow sips rather than tilting your head back and downing it.
