i would say the team that for 1 season was totally unbeaten and had 49 win streak would be the best team that graced the premiership in any season. over the history man utd ar emost sucsessful ofc but any man utd team that won it wasnt as good as the invincibles in that single season.

I think you will find when we won the treble we lost less games in all competions than Arsenal in the unbeaten season, they also had a lot of dodgy decisions along the way.
Like the Fulham game, and also the dive by Pires.

Actually no the modern team would have walked all over them they talked about it on Sky Sports :p They would run them around for 40 minutes at which point the old team would be dead the fitness of the modern game is miles ahead of what it was :)

The unbeaten season had a record of P38 W26 D12 L0 Man you were no where near it as they did not have L0 what do our cup games of that season have to do with dominating the leauge.

And you are full of shit every championship wins the odd game they should have drawn and draws ones they should have lost. I like to think of it as the luck of the champion. just like NOT AN EXCUSE the goal chelski got vs us off Drogbas knee. Leauge champions seem to get the luck. And stop talking about diving when you have Ronaldo when earlier in the season you won form a free kick that was one of the worst dives i have ever seen.

Thats the problem, he needs to be. He's not pulling his weight, coasting along on a measley 130k a weak.

I don't rate him, i'd much rather have J.Cole playing there instead.

Drogba is not effective up front on his own a centre midfielder should not be outscoring a striker.

Drogba's on 22 this season, Lampard's on 15. Lampard is obviously outscoring Drogba

I think his goals this season have shown that he needs to play along side another striker.

His goals show that he scores more of the goals than other players. With a 4-3-3 there was a bigger variety of player scoring goals.

At the end of the day it might be more expectant for a striker to score. But who fucking cares who gets it in the back of the net.

Bloody hell, I know both the other supporters! One of them is staying at my place right now.

With all players fit Arsenal have proved they can out play Man Utd and the rest of the Premiership. Let the flames commence!

First time in what 3 seasons? that anyone has been close to outscoring him. I was not talking about this season. I was talking previous.

Chelsea deserved to win the 2 league titles because they won the most games however I would still rather watch Man Utd or Arsenal because they do actually try and play football.

Chelsea just play to defensive until they score or concede. I prefer Chelsea to concede first because at least then they actually push it forward with some energy.

Winning the league is not all about beating Man Utd twice.

And how is losing to Sheff Utd, Fulham and West Ham outplaying them?

Im talking in relation to how the game was played at the time. Im not comparing a team 20 years ago to a team playing now. Arsenal will never touch the great liverpool team of the 80s, I doubt anyone will

We certainly struggled at the start of the season. Few would argue against us playing the most attractive style of football in the Prem. Which is nice after years of the 'boring, boring Arsenal!' jibes.

Regarding loosing a few games, its football. 90 mins of anything can happen. If it was as pretictable as you seem to imply no one would bother watching it. England loosing against some forgotten Eastern European mino, might have totally outplayed them but sometimes the ball will not go into the back of the net. That's football!

You can't say that the any team from today that played there would walk the leauge that team here would not win a bean you cant say no one will ever be better because football has evolved and is now a harder game. Can you imagine Henry vs a bruiser of a defender hery would run laps around them. Or Ronaldo with his skill and pace.

You can say you do not think any modern team will win as much as them but you cant say a modern team will never be as good the teble and unbeaten runs were both made even more spectacular considering how the stadards of football have increased imo.

And i was not saying Arsenal are better but our team would walk the leauge liverpoll dominated :p

Arsenals unbeaten league season was remarkable yes... but they drew far too many games for it to be the super super event it got hyped as...

Go win a treble then come back please.. thats REAL sucess and why Man Utd are still the biggest team in England

and it was one of the famous liverpudlians of the 80's that once said 'You will never win anything with kids' proved wrong by the best manager the english football league has seen

and if you wanna start flying back in dates looking at the liverpool team of the 80s, lets look the United of the 50/60's Best Charlton Law etc etc ;)

This thread is not about winning the Premership its about which team would beat which team on there day for cryin out loud.

This season Arsenal have a record of won 3 drawn 1 of our games vs the big 3 and that includes Man U and Chel$ki away so far we are doing well vs our Main rivals no?

And you lost to West Ham

lol I give up. Ok, Arsenal are the greatest team ever to have played football in the entire world. Even though they still cant win the champions league, they are still the best team ever, better than true world class teams like the legendary Liverpool team, the legendary Real madrid team, the legendary milan team and the current barca team. They would also have won every single world cup if they were allowed to enter, beating the old west germany team, brazil team and argentina teams all put together, even without a recognised goal keeper, as Lehman got sent off for punching Maradona, even though it wasnt a punch, Maradona just fell onto his fist, the refs hate Arsenal, it was never a sending off.

There, end of thread :D

As a Man U fan you do not see going a season without losing as great because you are bitter.

As a Arsenal fan i do not see winning the treble and getting lucky in the final and a good achivement because i am bitter its the way football gose :p

Liverpool team of the late 70s early 80s = 8 league titles and 4 european cups
in 10 years

Utd team of the 50s/60s 5 leagues in 16 years and 1 european cup

Also , by Sozes reckoning, the game would be much harder in the 80s, making liverpools achievements even better

mmmmmm

I am not bitter about not going through a season like that,

Do i see it as a massive achievement? Yes, I do, and it probably won't be repeated for along time

I just personally believe, and neutral fans would probably agree that winning the treble, and espically in the style Man Utd did it, was more impressive and more a spectacular feat of commitment, hard work, and never say die attitude that delievered it..

Also a team ravaged by one the biggest disasters in the history of the sport that took many a brilliant player away...
Nearly every pundit who watched the game said Duncan Edwards was one of the true greats of the sport such a shame he never had the chance fulfill his true potential

Also one of the key benefactors in any teams domination of a sport... is the opposition what other great teams were around in the 50's or the 80's aside from the headlining ones... I dont know..

I do know that Man Utd dominated the 90's vs a very strong arsenal team and a still strong liverpool team... others came and went

I said i am not saying Arsenal are the best i am saying you cant compare a old team to a new team in terms of success as Old players say week in week out the league is harder now.

I agree, but I cannot get across my point without confusing myself. You cant compare a team 20 years ago to a team now, but you can compare their achievements, which is why, for me (and ive heard countless pundits say) the liverpool team of the late 70s/early 80s is the greatest english team of all time, due to what they achieved. If you get me :D

Yes i agree but in the same way i do not think you can say the team of Liverpool in the 80s is better that the Man U treble team. As you can't compare them :) But saying no current team will be able to match the success of the 80s Liverpool team i agree with if that makes sence i know what i mean but i cant say it :p

No current team will dominate europe and england like Liverpool did in the 80s?

The treble is not just about some cup games, its about having the pure strength of squad to maintain high performance in a very stupidly conjested season, something no other team has managed to do yet..
Arsenals 'reserves/fringe players' are not at the quality Man Utd had back in 99/00, hell we were even missing both of our best midfielders for the final ;)

But you got so feckin lucky in that final so i have heard if they did not try to get every one on the pitch and upset there flow you would never have won :) I did not see the game so it could be wrong :)

this whole liverpool debate is ridiculous. yes, they had a great team in the 80s, but the thread is about PREMIERSHIP teams. liverpool have been consistently shite in the premiership - which was founded in 1992. thus, manchester united and arsenal have certainly been better PREMIERSHIP teams.

nottingham forest were just as successful as liverpool were (read: were; past tense) back in the day, the difference is notts forest fans accept (on the whole) that their team have had their day (for now). liverpool fans annoy the fuck out of me with their "WE WERE ONCE GREAT, SO WE WILL ALWAYS BE GREAT" attitude. football is fluid, it is transient, just like everything else - teams get better, teams get worse. over the past 20 years, liverpool have gotten worse. accept it, in the context of the premiership - both manchester united, arsenal and arguably chelsea have all achieved far more than liverpool and been far better teams since the conception of the premiership.
