It doesn't matter what genre it's from, what age, whether it was covered and became your best...just what do you truly beleive to be the best song ever written.

For me it's got to be pachelbels canon, without a doubt. Have spent the best part of a year trying to learn the thing all the way through on an acoustic and everytime I hear it played well in a new way, it captures me much more then most other songs ever will.

Really tough question. I don't think I could name one piece of music that I rate above all others. Simply too difficult.

You light up my senses
Like a gallon of Greenalls
Like a kebab from Genos
Like a good sniff of glue
Like a night out at Martines
Like a split fish and curry
Oh St Helens Rugby
Come fill me again
Na na na na na naa naa
OOHH
Na na na na naa naa

does it for me

i would have one for different genres as there are so many differences between them.
but i would say for the past couple of years really, Strength of the World - by Avenged Sevenfold has to be up there.
on the flipside i also think that Everybodys Talking (Midnight Cowboy theme) - Harry Nillson is also up there, and that cant really be compared with A7X.

The orchestra that did Aeris' Theme have done some other amazing tunes too.

No vocals but it really lifts you to hear it :)

Probably not the best song, but I can't get it out of my head atm:

Also as a reference to Marc's rugby chant, mine is from football, just before FC Københavns run onto the pitch:

Der er et yndigt land, jeg ved
Og det land skal nok bestå
Så længe landets hovedstad
Har et hold som FCK

Roughly translated:
There is a beautiful country, I know
And the country will endure
As long as the country's capital
Has a team like FCK

It doesn't matter what genre it's from, what age, whether it was covered and became your best...just what do you truly beleive to be the best song ever written.

For me it's got to be pachelbels canon, without a doubt. Have spent the best part of a year trying to learn the thing all the way through on an acoustic and everytime I hear it played well in a new way, it captures me much more then most other songs ever will.

George Winstons Pachebel Cannon D is the only version I heard (maybe the only one out there?) and loved this as well. Did not know the name until 2 years back hehe.

Favourite is Donovan/Dylan "Catch the wind".

Few months back mate... When daemyr left DAoC, I'd been thinking about it myself as well. I figured it'd be better for the guild if I left at the same time as him so they could level up two people at once; my freetime has taken a nose dive this year so would've ended up not turning up to quite a few of the guild nights otherwise :(

Thas why you saw me on someonelses char a week back for GG night though ;) I'm still worth an ask for replacements, it's just that I don't have my own account anymore, hehe.

Try youtubing it bud, you'll get hundreds of different variations of it on just about any instrument. Was originally a piano piece a few hundred years back.

edit:Just looked him up...never knew it was him who wrote the tocatta as well :eek7:

Some of the best music I've ever heard, hard to rank one above the other.

The Last of the Mohican's Theme - James Horner
YouTube - Redcoats Tribute 2
[youtubevid]8aJ_R6Tsy-o[/youtubevid]

Red Warrior (Last of the Samurai) - Hans Zimmer
YouTube - Gaara VS Sasuke and Red Warrior

Explosive - Bond
YouTube - Naruto - Explosive

Requiem for a Dream(AKA Requiem for a Tower) - 'Lux Aeterna' (?)
YouTube - The Matrix - Requiem for a Tower

Other than that, theres the classics that others have already mentioned, so many really good peice of music out there though, couldnt pick just one from hundreds of millions.
