Some pretty good contenders for this. Bruce Lee-Enter the Dragon. most shoot out scenes from hard boiled. My vote goes for the bank heist scene in Heat. Just for pure realism & Drama.

which is your favourire

I'd like to go with the nijas from Last Samurai, but I think I shall have to concur with hard boiled. However, I like the warehouse fight more than the hospital one.

Shooting - Church scene from The Killer
Fighting - Fight with the Jap General in Fist Of Legend

Actually those are just good ones I remember. There's probably better.

LaMotta makes short work of that wall, would that be classed as a good fight? ;)

Black Hawk Down, when the helicopter uses the nightvision... and you can see the bullets and flares racing across the green vision.

Best fight - Neo vs Agent Smith in the underground trainstation

The same one I thought of when I saw this thread, gets my vote!

Also Terminator 1, when arnie goes on a rampage through the police station.

While it's not a shoot out, "You have 20 seconds to comply" is another classic scene involving high-velocity projectiles and the human body.

I think the warehouse scene from Hard Boiled was pretty cool, also the beginning of Saving Private Ryan was amazing at the cinema.

Yup it was. One of the best too.

Agree with: Omaha in Saving Private Ryan, the Hospital bit in Hard Boiled, the bank job in Heat, Arnie and the Police Station in T1, final shootout in Leon and the Ninja attack in Last Samurai.

Would like to add the final battle in Saving Private Ryan, the final battle in Last Samurai, the lobby bit in The Matrix, and any of the gun kata sequences from Equilibrium, but particularly the one at the start :)

Desperado, to add something that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Thought the gunfights in that were pretty good, at least entertaining.

They shoot the rear view mirror out twice, first time I noticied it I couldn't help but notice it every time since, really messes up the film for me.

Best fight - the final battle between good and evil, Neo vs Morpheus at the end of Revolutions. Great fight, and a classy end (in my book anyway).

Best shoot-out - When Robocop storms the drug warehouse. The greatest demonstration of "I am clearly far better than you at this" in cinema history imo.

While I kind of agree with you on this, I just love the way you phrased that and it makes me agree more. :)

My first thoughts on best gunfight were the ones in desperado, mainly the one in the bar where he's flipping the guns as if he's trying to bend the bullets round corners. Also the bit where the guy with the knife comes at him and he shoves him in the air and blasts the crap out of him.

Having just been talking about Terminator in the other thread, I remember a great fight scene in T2 where the T1000 and Arnie meet in the shopping mall for the first time. You get a real sense that they're immensely strong hunks of metal as they slam each other into the walls.

I ALMOST agree on the fight scene with Neo and Morpheus in the VR dojo in Matrix 1 but I prefer my fights to be quit fluid rather than, place hand here, block here, etc etc.

So to my favourite fight scene...tbh I can't think of a best one. There's so many that have their merits e.g. the Matrix for different reasons. Some are more fluid, some have more emotional involvement in the context of the film etc etc. I'll come back if I can think of a specific one. :)
