So I went to the local supermarket to get a baguette for lunch as I had some bacon in the fridge, I also picked up a pack of chocolate chip cookies for the drive to the airport and back tomorrow to help keep me perky.

Obviously you can see where this is going......no bacon in the fridge.... only one thing to do.

8" of baguette with three chocolate chip cookies + lettuce + pepper+more salady stuff.

It tasted great, and I still feel full :p

Would have tasted better if you'd waited till you got to the airport and eaten it on the giant conveyor belt.

Would the ultimate sandwhich afftect the takeoff of the plane???

Depends if it was a wholegrain baguette with maybe a little mayonnaise it would of given the plane some extra lift (only if it was light mayo of course)

I guess aerodynamics would come in to it tho, seeing as a conventional plane is baguette(ish) shaped, however the more stealthier faster plane would be the triangle cut sandwich.

Would also help if Bette Midler's Wind Beneath My Wings was playing over the tannoy.

:)

Surely it'd be wind beneath my sandwich? And what do you make the wings out of with the baguette?

Back on the main topic though, experimenting with sandwiches is one of my favourite passtimes.

Nothing, and I mean Nothing on this entire planet sandwich wise beats a plain cheese sandwich stuffed with crisps :)

That depends on which way the conveyor belt is turning and its velocity.

Obviously you've never sampled the delights of a Ginster's Double Cheese & Onion then, with a Coffee Nation large Latte.

Nope but nothing will ever beat a plain cheese sandwich on white bread prised apart with your own bare hands as you carefully arrange the varied shapes of Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps like a game of Tetris onto the soft mattress of cheese before you, assuring the shapes fit perfectly to ensure a balanced crispy surface before sealing the creation beneath the other slice of bread.
Hearing the gratifying crunch as you carefully apply pressure to the stack with the palm of your hand

Damn im hungry now

Hmmm, distinct lack of my mate Marmite being mentioned, essential in any sarnie!!

Due to my new budget, lunch consists of 2 packs of 8p noodles from Netto's in the microwave, s'ok as long as they're covered in hot chili sauce :)

Classic bacon sarnie, always will be the best. Hopefully with decent bacon that doesnt leak 20 gallons of water in the pan like most supermarket stuff these days.

Hot chicken (with the skin on) with grated double gloucester applied. Toast long enough for the bread not to go to crispy, but long enough for the cheese to start melting, apply some lettuce. If your chicken's a little dry (there's nothing worse..), cucumber can be applied to give it some juice.

Best Sandwich I ever made involved 2 slices of white fresh bread buttered, then a 100% beef burger from the Farm shop inbetween 2 waffles and some lettece onthe burger. Bit of ketchup to round it off and it tastes so good, bound to clog the heart but worth it.
