well considering I am after a digital camera and munkey was after a film loading camera, it was as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Chocolate teapots have had their uses in the past. :)

But you could try jessops.com anyway. :)

The Fuji Finepix 2600 Zoom seems to meet all your requirements except that it *only* has 2.11 megapixels :rolleyes:

£234 all in from Dabs.

You can upgrade to a 32 or 64 Meg Smartmedia with the change.

I have a Fuji Finepix 4700 and can vouch that they are pretty nifty cameras.

We got a Konica Revio KD200z about 3 months ago when our 2nd daughter was born. Excellent little piece of kit, suprisingly small and robust (eldest has a tendency to dropthings)

I reckon it was about £250ish from Argos.

/me sighs @ PR

first u direct him to a film camera thread, theeeeeen you show him your digicam, a Fuji Finepix 6900Z which will set him back no less than £500!!!

jesus!!!

Wilier and Ono's recommendations are both good, and here's my piece;

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LC20 digital camera-
* 2.11 Megapixel CCD (2.0 Effective)
* 3x Optical Zoom
* Leica Lens
* Motion JPEG
* USB Mass Storage
* 8Mb SD Card supplied as standard
* Arcsoft Photoimpression software supplied as standard
* Scene Mode selction
* Burst Shoot (5 fps)
* 1.6" Colour LCD

£230

very nice spec... and might i add how SUPERB the lens is on that thing. Leica == quality.

as for the 2.3 megapixel bit... hardly anyone that states 2.3mp GIVES 2.3mp, because they use pixels around the edge for colour calibration, whitebalance, etc etc and they aren't actually used in the piccies (2/2.1mp == 1600*1200, when do u ever see slightly more than that?)

also worthy of note are the Nikon Coolpix 2000-
* 2.0 Effective Megapixel CCD
* 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens (38mm-114mm), plus 2.5x Digital Zoom
* One-Touch(R) Upload(TM) to your computer
* 5 easy-to-use Scene Modes
* Compact and lightweight, fits in your pocket, weighs only 190g
* Autofocus
* Choice of three Lightmeters; 60 Segment Matrix Meter, Center Weighted, Spot
* Best Shot Selector
* Powered by four AA-type standard alkaline batteries

£200

and the Sony DSC-P51-
* 1600x1200 resolution (1.92 megapixel effective)
* 2x optical zoom (41-82mm equivalent)
* 6x digital zoom
* Super HAD CCD
* Resolutions: 1600x1200, 1280x960, 640x480 or 3:2 (1600x1072)
* 12bit DXP
* Spot Metering mode
* Scene selction mode: Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Landscape
* Picture Effects: Solarize, B&W, Sepia, Negative Art
* Flash Modes
* Video mode: HQX (320x240), Presentation (320x240), Video Mail (160x112)
* MPEG Movie HQX: Normal (160x120), Mobile (80x72)
* Recording formats: JPEG and MPEG1
* Resolutions: 1600x1200, 1280x960, 640x480 or 3:2 (1600x1072)
* 1.6in TFT LCD
* USB terminal

£250

Been warming to the Fuji FinePix 2800. Reports say the picture quality is great and I like the idea of a decent optical zoom.

I was going to recommend that one but it was over your budget.
