They released a version of it on Lipstick Traces which is good quality.

I love their cover of McCarthy's We Are All Bourgeious Now and Camper Van Beethovens Take The Skinheads Bowling :D

I'm shockingly poor at remembering things like "something that's specifically a cover", however I did like Muse's stab at Feeling Good on the Origin of Symetry album.

I might also chip in Christopher O'Riley's "True Love Waits" album - it's an entire album of Radiohead songs on solo classical piano. It's genuinely good, not just for fanboys.

Opeth - Remember Tomorrow (Iron Maiden)
Sonata Arctica - Fade To Black (Metallica) Only song I can stand with them
Cradle Of Filth - Sleepless (Anathema)

One question you can ask if a good cover is a good similar performance of a song or something that feels unique. If the latter is your thing Apocalyptica has done some cool Metallica covers.

Cardigans - Iron Man

If only for taking a fairly heavy song and turning it into a loungecore cover. Well played you Sweedish types!

Outkast - Favourite Things
Faith No More - Easy and War Pigs
Muse - House of the Rising Sun (if you are a Muse fan and don't currently have this, GET IT NOW).
Cake - I Will Survive (probably my fave cover of all time, mainly as they managed to take one of the worst songs ever and make it pretty damn good.)
Lostprophets - Cry Me a River
Me First and The Gimme Gimmes - Hotel California
The Gypsy Kings - Hotel California

those will do for now, I'm sure more will come to mind.

I once heard Elbow do a cover of Teardrop on Jo Whiley's show on Radio 1. It really was fantastic and I'd love to hear it again.

Street Spirit by the Darkness is also amazing - they completely transformed it.

Reel Big Fish - Take On Me
The Ataris - Boys Of Summer

That's all I got for the moment.

Have you heard Nightwish's cover of it? It's extremely good.

As for my song it would be Muse - Feelin' good.

Muse's cover of "House of the rising sun" has grown on me, thanks to Bodhi's advice. Not as good as the original but still a good song nonetheless.

Prefer Muse - Feeling Good, as well. excellent song that makes me quite happy to listen to.

For me, a cover is just a poor copy or bastardisation or an original song. Having said that Guns ‘n’ Roses did an underrated album called the ‘Spaghetti Incident’ full of punk covers. Wasn’t bad as covers go.
