Best combat flight sim?

I was at the Science Museum over the weekend and saw a nice big Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane!

It was ace!

So what's, like, the best WWII combat flight simulator at the moment?

Well, Crimson Skies was a lot of fun, and I also played Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator for a while.

I guess that's a broad range, but so be it.

Played the demo of Secret Weapons Over Normandy and that was way too arcadey.

You could try Forgotten Battles, it's a bit dated, but is very, very, sim. Even to the point of being hard to take off, let alone land the damn thing.

Also, what type of plane do you want to fly? Modern, 2nd WW etc?

Ta, Embattle. CFS3 was certainly one I was looking at. I heard good things about IL2-Sturmovik, but isn't that Russian-only? Or something?

Dambusters on the Spectrum was good, maybe you could find an emulator somewhere

IL-2 Sturmovik is a fantastic flight sim. Tons better than MSCFS (but i havent played 2 or 3 so dont quote me on that).
Its very inolved so if you're looking for a take-oof, shoot stuff down, land auto-sim then its not really your best of choices.

But like people say, Forgotten Battles is certainly the best one thats been out recently.

B17-Flying Fortress The Mighty 8th is good aswell. Although (obviously) it deals with the B17, and not so much the fighters.

The models and airports in fs2004 are very well made. The animations like the canopy for instance are so smooth its unbelivable.
