The story is very much altered from the original..
In some ways, I can see what they are doing, but there's just not enough focus on the story and it feels a bit shallow.. and I didn't like all the directions they took - i.e. undermining Beowulf's character, Grendel, etc.
Plus the representation of Grendel is crap.. that is not how it happens in the original story.
..And at one point, Beowulf is unnecessarily naked - writers of the screenplay misinterpret Beowulf as saying he would fight Grendel with no armour as him intending to fight naked..
And.. in all honesty.. the producers should really have f***ing realised that giving Angelina Jolie / Grendel's mother stiletto heels in Viking times is a bit of a silly idea..
They had some nice ideas, but unfortunately they don't quite work out 100%.
Plus Beowulf is portrayed as a bit of a lamer and a loon, which is a shame.
