Was actually bloody fantastic. I always expect these things to be a little... tragic... but this show was witty, and well acted, and touching, and interesting, and sadly, it seems, a one off :(

Anyone else catch it?

It's about a werewolf, and a vampire, and a ghost living together in a house. That makes it sound like a really dodgy sitcom, but it's not.

Missed it watching the dispatches after the awful new knight rider, I'll watch it on iplayer tomorrow.

Like the terrible phoo action, it was a pilot. Phoo action got confirmed for a series, maybe that will as well.

Was pretty good, if they ditch the actor playing the vampire that is!

Rent A Ghost was THE BUSINESS!!!

However, it's nothing like rent a ghost. Think Buffy meets erm... something else really good. Go on the bbc3 website and you can watch it online, or I think it's on tonight at 10.50.

If you don't watch it, I will shun you forever.

Infact, I will commence shunning now, and only stop once you've watched it.

Yeah, I second that. Just watched it now and enjoyed it a lot - but he was a bit annoying. It may not be his fault tho.

You never get an alcoholic vamp who's a bit thick with emotional problems do ya? :)

Just watched it and was quite impressed. Am also gutted that it appears to be a one off as there is definitly potential for a good story line there. So, no need to be shunned anymore x

Excellent program, the guy from the History Boys (wolf) was very good.

Do hope something more comes of this as Adrian Lester (I think that's the bad vampire chappy boss) is a great actor too.

Think the reason vamps tend not to be thick is cause they have been around for a long time. His character mentions he is very old

I thought the show was brilliant, i wouldnt change any of them, they all work really well together

I take the point - but vampires used to be depicted in all sorts of different ways but nowadays they're all aloof, intelligent and exude sex. It's a bit of a cliche really, although in this case a well-written one.

I mean, imagine for a second that vampires are real - surely there'd be some fuck ugly ones with a regional accent rather than the entire population being pretty boys with neutral accents and classical schooling?

if you lived for 200 years and lived in various places and times then your accent will change, just like someone from scotlands accent will soften if they live in england long enough

surely though, if you were going to recruit people to live alongside you forever, you'd only want 'the best' and not a 'normie'?

Don't get me wrong - I think the character as it stands is well written and I really enjoyed the show.

I'm just bemoaning the fact that vampires nowadays are depicted the way they are. In the past vampires were often proper monsters. It's a recent thing that vampires are written how they are.

So yep. I'd like a vamp who isn't really clever, sexy and holier than thou. How about one with flaws? :)

I've not seen this show, but if you're after fair representation of vampires - Buffy the Vampire Slayer had it's fair share of moron vampires :)

Aye. But lets face it - Buffy was a pretty retard herself so if her opponents were at all capable it would have been a very short show ;)

they have changed the vamp and ghost tho :(

The ghost is now played by a black woman, typical PC going mad. I just hope they are as good

I enforced the change by complaining to the BBC as I'm the kind of guy who's easily offended by all-white casts, don't you know.

I think I see what Sparx means although probably a misjudgement. Promoting multiculturalism is one thing but the BBC recently have really been stuffing it down your throat. I have nothing against including people of different races in programs like this but when you're misrepresenting history for the sake of political correctness that's not right.
I know it's not the BBC but look at the story behind the dambusters remake, they're calling the dog blackie. They should at least make and effort to include things properly like in robin hood prince of thieves the dark skinned man was a moor who won respect, liked that, worked well, but then they had to make up for Costner somehow :)
