The Turkey-Macedonia match sounded rather scary.

Macedonia midfielder Sasko Lazarevski was struck on the head and riot police had to form a shield to protect any visiting player taking a corner.

UEFA are thinking of playing Turkey-England "behind closed doors" (empty stadium), I just wonder if this would be to England's advantage, after all you wouldn't have that f*cking annoying Sun Brass Band playing The Great Escape all the time.

if Turkey don't get kicked out (I think they'll probably get a "final warning" and a fine like we did), the England game in Istanbul will have to be in a closed stadium - the risk of violence is too great really.

And yes this would be a big advantage for England. Istanbul is one of, or even the most intimidating arenas in world football, the problem for Turkish football is that their supporters go way too far. Not that ours are much better. Not that English hooligans go in so much for throwing missiles at foreign teams, they would much rather kick the shit out of their supporters in running street battles.

I think if English fans are allowed into Turkey then someone will end up dead again. Memories of the Leeds fan killed are still there, and revenge on the agenda, sickening though that may be

Has a team ever actually been kicked out?

If not they should make an example or too and maybe then the *fans* would act sensibly.

Most recently Azerbaijan were kicked out of the qualifiers for legal irregularities or something but they were reinstated. If Turkey got kicked out their fans would just go mental at domestic games, it'd fuel the fire.
