Over the past week or two, there has been an increased rate of bees coming into our house [Assumption is through the backdoor - as the bees usually sit in the kitchen window].
On the average day, we'd end up getting maybe 8-10 bees coming in on a daily basis, we dont kill them, we merely catch them/release them back outside. Since they're bees, they're full of awesome, so i wont kill them.
Anyway, on Monday night i relised that next to the backdoor/kitchen window, there is a device which was turned on which acts like a mosquito/insect repellent - All it does is emits a low frequency noise, much like those other pest control devices.
I figured, that because this is next to the window in question - it could be disorientating the bees confusing them, thus they end up getting stuck in the window. So i turned the repeller off. On Tuesday, not a single bee came in - So i thought "Cool! Looks like it may have been the reason..."
...Or maybe not.
Today i noticed one bee, which looked like it was dying, at the bottom of the window in question. I decided to leave it alone to see if by chance it would just get up and go on its own. An hour or so past and i forgot about this bee.
About an hour later, someone is at the door, and in the kitchen i heard this mighty buzzing noise. Obviously it was a bee, but i ignored it and just kept on with answering the door. Not long after, my mum comes home - She goes into the kitchen and says there was about 6 bees in the window. Eep. That was probably what was causing the loud buzzing earlier.
I am coming to the conclusion that there must be a bee nest or something close by, this has pretty much being going on for a week straight while its not raining. While its not raining the backdoor is generally left open [Because its quite humid at times plus the dog likes going into the garden]. We do have a small net thing over the door to block out any insects, however the bees seem to be manouevering past this.
I might go have a look and see where the bees might be coming from but 1] While i love bees, they still can scare the crap out of me if they fly towards me and 2] i wouldnt know where to look. I would assume bees like damp places, and with the weather we've been having its been somewhat fluctuating.
Calling out the bee people wouldnt be a method yet, unless something is definately found. I have my suspicions were bees might be[e], but our garden is large... Which leaves our shed and open garage - Which does have a bit of damp on the ceiling...
