The portuguese police have, allegedly, done this in the past, when a kid goes missing after a certain amount of time they have turned on the parents and arrested them. On more than one occasion.

Was in the news a couple of weeks ago with parents in jail and they swear they had nothing to do with it (i know i know everyone in jail is innocent)

i really didnt like the thing with them leaving their kids alone in the first place and the way no one wanted to critisize them for it, even if they didnt personally kill her if they'd provided adequate babysitting she wouldnt have gone missing

i know a lot of people leave their kids alone "im only going next door for a mo" or "Im just nipping to the shop for a sec" but a mo or a sec is all it takes for a kid to get in trouble and imo (and it really is just my opinion) if you leave your kids alone and something happens to them then yes it is your fault.

hay i just said its my opinion if someone leaves their kids alone ad something happens i blame the parents. personally this is a huge reason as to why i dont want kids i actually do recognise the gigantic responsibility it is to have a baby and tbh i really cba with it.

If anything they're guilty of first degree neglegance.

Leaving a kid, that young, that helpless alone while you go out on the piss and thinking "It'll be reet" because the apartment is in view is absolutely disgusting.

Regardless of new developments and whether the portuguese police are seen as 'dodgy' it still does not discount the fact that they should have been thrown in prison a LONG time ago.

The parents had jobs in medicine right? wouldnt be too hard to get hold of some tranqs to 'Keep the kids quiet' while they were on holiday. weren't they all in bed? should have done tests on the other two children for traces of anything, be all too easy to get something like that wrong probably causing her death then making a fanfare of it to keep it under wraps.
So to kerb that theory they'd need to,
1. Check the children if possible.
2. Check records of suppliers that are close to the parents or any likely sources, if not this end then check how much they had taken beforehand and what they spent it on in preparation.

Shouldnt be too offensive to ask if they're innocent, its just getting rid of possible outcomes.

It's interesting to see how many people suspect/want the McCanns to be guilty of this. Although not suprising. The way they have acted following her disappearance is dispicable, and deserves some kind of punishment, let alone their crime of leaving her alone. Even if found innocent, I would want to see some sort of apology from them to the entire world, for the way they have acted. Meeting the Pope, and holding a t-shirt with a monkey grin on your face are not pre-requisites to spreading the word about your missing daughter.
