Can someone please name a good comedy from BBC1 that has appeared recently (not a repeat) that actually made them laugh?

Does Never Mind The Buzzcocks count?

Except it was on BBC2.

Prime Minister's Question Time - that always makes me chuckle - and yes, the Labour government is full of clowns and jokers, so it does count :)

(although this was also on BBC2)

/edit. Ahhh BBC1. Well now, that's different. Sod all, apart from the occasional chuckle at My Family (which isn't bad, though not great.)

Agreed.

Think all the better comedies have been on BBC2 of late. With BBC1 reserved for the more 'adult and informative' programmes.......like My Hero......and Holby City...........and Ruby Wax

God I wish my TV was broken - oh it is - sweet.

My thoughts exactly, BBC1 used to have some good comedies, now they're all shoved on to BBC2.
I must confess I hardly watch terrestrial TV these days as there's precious little entertainment there.
There's tons of comedy elsewhere on satellite, not a lot of it is quality but there's plenty to choose from, including re-runs of good comedy previously seen on the BBC channels.

The BBC do television broadcasts too!

I just want my licence fee to go towards their excellent intraweb services.

Had me confused there, thought you'd gone off topic.
"My Heo is fucking wank"? Why is he your hero then if he's wank?
Then Cdr pipes up and explains that it's a TV show.:)

It's got the bloke who played Dougal in Father Ted playing well, Dougal as a Superhero. It's shit, because he's quite a funny guy but he insists of doing the Dougal character all the time....

There was a genius quote from some spokesperson at the BBC...

"Why don't you do more stuff like Buffy?"

"We do! For example My Hero..."

I despair I really do.

hehe

At least they're talking about opening up the archives to the public - then I can sit and download episodes of the great comedies from the comfort of my desk.

Does it really matter if a comedy is on BBC2 or BBC1?

Only if it gives an alternative to crappy eastenders.

ANd i think Father Ted was the last great comedy (even though it wasn't on BBC)

BBC1 was never known for it's decent comedies. It has always BBC2 (well my generation anyway)

In my day comedies were on BBC1, primetime.
Then they slid over to BBC2 after 9 PM. Now it seems all the good comedies are on BBC2 after 9PM. You can guarentee that any comedy on BBC1 before 9PM is going to be some shit-brained "light-hearted" comedy that only the moronically stupid (or your parents) will find funny.

BBC 2 is comedy central now, and a fine job it does. :D

British comedy is miles better than American, only ones that come even remotely close is Will and Grace/Frasier.

I can't remember the last American comedy I watched and laughed at, unless you consider Buffy comedy.

The only funny BBC1 comedies have been Only Fools and Horses and One Foot in the Grave... the rest have been shit, with the funny stuff on bbc2 - and if really successful there it'll get switched, like Have I Got News For You etc...
