Just started playing this game and damn it is fun

But non of my irl mates cba moving from BF2 to it and since I really want a few buddies to play with I am asking here if any of you plays it? Can't wait to get off nightshift and go home so I can play again... Getting the same feeling as back in the days when I started on DAoC, sweeeet....

I actually went out and bought it after reading up on it a bit more - all it does is market the in game advertising more towards your area - i.e not in chinese if you have a uk IP - nothing is passed on as such elsewhere.

I bought it and am loving it tbh. The Titan assaults rock and there is nothign cooler than blowing up the core and then jumping off the side, parachuting down and then going and shooting someone on the ground before the Titan explodes.. its beating the piss out of me ever going back to DAOC atm tbh.

I think the old spyware stuff got a bit out of hand on this one tbh.. You have to connect to the web and servers to play the game so its not like they don't have your IP anyway.

thats because bf2 is a far better game
the titan concept is great but its been made far too easy and all the sides are the same that its no longer fun :<
they should implement carrier wars in bf2

It's not what it is now but if you show support for it now they will impliment it more heavily into games and thus the situation will become worse.

Tbh who cares - advertising in games is coming whether people like it or not - I am surprised how little there is atm tbh online. Its a coming and there aint a thing you can do about it so embrace it and carry on as normal imo. I doubt enough people will be able to boycott enough games to stop the industry doing it.

I would be concerned if it took your browser data or info from your pc but by all means using my IP dont mean poo - I am already connected to the game so its not like they don't know - and even if there is advertising billboards or whatever in games - I doubt it would mindwash me into going out and buying the product anyway.

this is just a way ea can let you know of upcoming games that apply to you, if your a football fan they will send you fifa info.

no one would buy the game if it was as bad as people make out.

im only assuming all this but just to confirm, are there bill boards etc ingame with adverts on? thats ok in futuristic games as it adds to the experience however in an mmo it will suck (they did say mmo's wont include this)

EA are scum, pure and simple. I will strenuously try to avoid buying any of thier products for as long as I can and I really hope that I'm not the only one.

Tbh I havent seen a single in game advert on BF 2142 - not even sure where they are supposed to be - if they are there I dont even notice them.

I'll not be buying WAR mate, I hate EA, I feel I've given them a fair chance and they've fucked up game after game and this spy/malware is just the final nail in the coffin for me.

BF2 was the last EA game I bought, that isnt even installed atm as I just hate EA products, they have this 'feel' to them that just makes it seem like the fun has been surgically removed.

B2, LotR:BFME, C&C Generals, the list goes on, I think EA ruin alot of games and it pisses me off. Hence I wont buy thier products untill they mend thier ways, I dont personally see that happening though.

Obviously this is just my opinion, its a view that I hold and others may or may not share it, but its something I get annoyed about - which is why I dont want to buy EA products anymore.

Can't argue with that then Dukat - I admire your conviction even if I don't share teh same idea - granted I think EA are evul but if they make games I enjoy and games I hate - I will still buy/acquire the ones I want. Tbh I have only bought about 4 games in the last 2yrs - DAOC took up most of my PC time (little of it I have) then BF2 , HL2/Counter Strike (Havent even got 1/2 way thru HL2) and recently tried WoW then Footy Manager n BF 2142 is about it on my PC.....and lots of sheep pr0n.

I was told by someone who owns the game "When you buy the game you have to register it to play it online, from that they have your email address and depending on the types of EA games you own/interest in they will email you the newer release date newsletters".

Is that true? or are they actually advertising in the game?

Can't play on most BF2 Euro servers due to the shit Etisalat calls an internet service. Most servers kick anything over 200 mS latency So definitely won't buy this game.

As long as WAR doesn't contain malware I will buy it. I don't liek EA, but I wont not buy games just because EA publishes them, I won't buy games paying full ticket price and be subjected to advertising if they want to offer me the game for half price with adverts I would pick it up.
