Do you just type in your Player ID and then it will start tracking your stats, if not I'm just getting blank everything for my ID, bar the 'enlistment' date

Persoanlly i've given up trying to get onto the ranked and just playing on the jolt servers, all the ranked servers were still full when i logged at 1am...kinda shouts that something is wrong no?

Anyway...Jolt servers are pretty active and fun

You sensible man, you. I've been trying ranked servers just to see if I could clock up some decent points, and ... despite being told in game that I've gotten several awards, STILL no frickin' scores showing at all on BFHQ (and, no, sites like slawed don't find me either).

I've this horrible feeling the stats server plain hates my account. It IS there though, I retrieved the password for it fine via webform earlier today, so I dunno wtf is happening.

Yes, it's been days since I first played on a ranked server, and yesterday I played on one with a guy who said he'd right there in that round gained a rank.

And to get into ranked servers I just type in 'EA UK' into the filter and refresh until a space is available. Shouldn't be too long.

Or you can use my tactic and just keep spamming 'join server' until you get into one it doesn't take very long because people with shit connections and team killers and getting disconnected all the time.

I found refreshing takes too long and by the time its refreshed that space is probably gone by people doing the spam join server tactic

mine are worse. altho it would seem i have only played on 1 ranked server.
in which i had 10deaths to 2 kill lol.
think it was my 1st game cos i was sniper all the time.

i dont mind cos i shall always laugh at killing 8 people who all spawned at the same place and jumped into APCs i stuck c4 to. spec ops ftw.

It turns out that the actual problem was another GameSpyID account with the nick 'Athan' set. Fortunately this was another of mine, so I simply changed the nick on it, but it could easily have belonged to someone else. Now I've sorted that out the awards from the last week have shown up, although I think the scores are only from since I 'fixed' it.

The root of the problem was that when I setup an online account for the Demo I 1) put in 'Athan' and the email address+password, got some error about 'unique nick', 2) so tried another nick with same email, and 3) got told the email was already in use, so 4) Farted around with others, then finally 5) just tried 'retreive account' on the email address, and lo and behold 6) the 'Athan' one was there and working for login to the game.

What SHOULD have happened is at #1 it giving more of a hint about what it meant "There is another GameSpyID account using that nick, you'll have to use another" AND it should also have NOT created the account with that email and nick, as it 'knew' it wouldn't work properly. If it hadn't then at #3 I'd have gotten a different nick and just gotten on with things.

I'm wondering if it's still possible to do this, not least because you CAN change a GameSpyID nick (at least on the website) after the fact.

It seems the BF2 side of things is set up to not be able to handle such dupes when searching for the playerid from nick (all searches before I fixed things didn't show any of my gamespyid accounts, and certainly not the now working one). Yet once I fixed it the awards suddenly catch up, so either something was in the database and just not queryable or servers had the awards queued for sending and kept on retrying until I'd fixed things.

I should really go prod EA/Gamespy about this problem I guess.

what i dont understand. is when i made my account used me usual name. put in email an pass etc
but i have to use the account name for the game name to? any1 tell me why they are unable to just track stats an stuff using the account name then let u use whtever name u want in game?
say i joined a clan and wanted to put tag in me name. i would be forked unless i mad a new account.
i know its not exactley hard to make a new 1 but i would lose all me stats an things. every1 i asked in game says u cant change it to.
i tried changing it using the cmd in console thingy it says in 1 of the stickied threads. but that doesnt work.
so is there anyway at all to have a dif ingame name to ur account name?

i think this is one of the things being address in a future patch..the ability to change name.

No confirm on it tho but its beent alked about here and there.

If you look in "My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\XXXX\Profile.con" (XXXX will be 0001 or higher, it's per profile/account you create) there are THREE lines with the nick in. I assume you can change 1 or 2 of them for ingame name leaving the account name untouched.

I saw mention someplace of a +mplayer <name> or somesuch commandline option as well.

Yes, I'm being vague. I've had no reason to play with this myself as yet .

This file contains details of your online account including the username (GameSpyNick), the Email attached to that name, and the Password (encrypted). You can't change these details here - doing so will have no impact on your online account, except maybe cause problems logging on or with Punkbuster. If you want to change your online account name, email, or both, the correct way to do so is by going directly to the GameSpyID site, and first login using your current details. Then change the relevant information, enter the correct password and submit it to save the changes. Then when you return to BF2, enter your new details and retrieve your new account details then login to your multiplayer account.

Using the gamespyid web page was indeed how I changed the nick on the clashing account, so maybe you can use that to change the nick attached to the account for use ingame.

I played as assault class properly for the first time yesterday - MEC, so had an AK and it really does kick ass. I remember getting slightly pissed off at how many people killed me with the M4 from an absurd range but the AK really is top notch too.

I've found the chinease weapon to be vastly more accurate at short too mid range on the full auto setting.

With the M4 i'd have too empty a mag to get someone on full auto...which the type 85 [i think?] only a short burst does the trick...in single shot its the same accuracy although it feels less due too the massive ironsight

The Chinese AK-74 is vastly inferior to the 101, both accuracy and punch..i'm not sure why they did this as its the main chinese weapon.

A MEC medic with the 101 is deadly
